Yesterday was a yearly event held by Jati Transport Sdn Bhd which was the appreciation day for their customers and fans of Mercedes-Benz in Brunei Darussalam. It was also a way of showing their appreciation to the customers in trusting their products and services offered by Jati Transport Sdn Bhd.

Also present were Pengiran Anak Haji Ja’afar ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, the Executive Chairman of Jati Transport Sdn, Andrew Chiam, the Executive Director of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd, Alfred Soo, General Manager of Jati Transport and other management of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd.

Hundreds dropped by Mercedes Autohaus at Beribi and they were treated to a wide variety of food and other activities such as statue dance, photo booth, dance workshop, face painting to name a few. On the side note, Stephen Reid, Service Manager of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd, also made presentation on types to raise the awareness of safety.

The Service Department of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd introduced the Mercedes-Benz Star Select. It is a maintenance program for Mercedes Benz models for five years and older with up to 35% off on services and repairs. The offer will be valid until June 30, 2019.

The event also saw customers test driving the available models of the Mercedes-Benz.

Happy Campers during the FZ Summer Camp

Fitness Zone is organizing the FZ Holiday Camp 2018, a fun and exciting multi-disciplinary holiday camp experience where participants can develop their skills in sports, dance as well as the creative arts. Open to participants between ages 5 to 15, the holiday camp will run from 27 November to 16 December.

Fitness Zone introduced a similar programme in July this year, whereby campers got the chance to try out different sports as well as join classes in baking, dance, music and art. The upcoming FZ Holiday Camp will include a new component which is creative writing and storytelling. Another addition is the progression-type classes where campers will be able to focus on developing specific skills of their choice.

The integrated approach to the programme during the FZ Holiday Camp gives each participant the chance to try something new and have fun discovering their talents while also engaging their bodies and minds. The daily programme is arranged in a way that there will be up to four different types of classes, which allows campers to get physically active, play in teams and harness their creativity.

“Our children’s mental health is more important than their grades. Through these initiatives, we want to promote social interaction that leads to them having confidence in themselves,” said Wu Chun, Managing Director of Fitness Zone. “Let’s remember it’s better to build a child than to try to repair an adult,” he added.

The Fitness Zone Holiday Camp 2018 is a collaboration with OMNI Sports International, Jo Art Gallery, Yippy Tunes, The Energy Kitchen and Heartwrite Co.

During the three-week camp, participants will be able to choose between participating on a walk-in basis or get 3-day, 5-day or 7-days packages.

At the same time the design reflects the timeless aura of the first CLS, which founded a new segment and quickly became a design icon. All CLS models are equipped with new engines: in-line six-cylinder and in-line four-cylinder units as diesel and petrol versions. Like its predecessors, the new CLS exudes self-assured sportiness in exemplary style: a highly emotive vehicle offering impressive long-distance and acoustic comfort coupled with thrilling, unrivalled technology.

The standard AMG Line makes for added sportiness of the exterior and interior. External features are dynamic AMG styling (consisting of AMG front apron with chrome trim, sportily distinctive air curtains, AMG side sill panels and AMG rear apron in diffuser look with chrome trim strip), a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins and 48.3 cm (19-inch) 5-twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in tremolite grey with a high-sheen finish. In the interior, the AMG Line comprises specially designed seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre in black, an AMG multifunction sports steering wheel with flattened bottom section as well as AMG sports pedals and AMG floor mats.

Interior: comfort and versatility

A high-resolution Widescreen cockpit is standard for the new CLS, with two 12.3-inch displays arranged beneath a shared, continuous glass cover.

In the fully digital cockpit, the driver is able to feely configure the information content according to need and the driving situation. Three different styles can be selected depending on preference, mood or to suit the interior appointments. The Classic and Sport styles have a basic structure with two tubes, while the Progressive style surprises and polarises with a structure having a central, tube-shaped instrument.

The ambience lighting is individually adjustable in 64 colours, and also includes the air vents. When the temperature setting of the air conditioning system is changed, it briefly changes colour to show whether the temperature is being made warmer (red) or cooler (blue).

For the first time, the CLS Coupé is a five-seater. The EASY-PACK Quickfold allows the backrests to be folded down in a 40/20/40 split to versatilely expand the large 520-litre luggage compartment.

Intelligent Drive: safety systems from the SClass

The new CLS comes with the latest driving assistance systems with route-based support for the driver. The standard equipment includes Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST, Speed Limit Assist and the occupant protection system PRE-SAFE®.

The optional Driving Assistance Package consists of Active Distance Control DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRESAFE® PLUS. The Driving Assistance package Plus includes PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side. This system can brace the front occupants for a side impact by nudging them sideways to reduce the risk of injury.

MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with ULTRA RANGE high beam are also standard. These allow extremely quick and precise, electronically controlled adjustment of the headlamps to suit the current traffic conditions. ULTRA RANGE Highbeam generates the maximum light intensity permitted by law.

New range of engines: With EQ Boost and 48 volt onboard electrical system

The third generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS is powered by completely new engines, in-line six-cylinder and four-cylinder petrol units. Also characteristic of the four-door coupé is the extensive range of 4MATIC models.

The new, systematically electrified four-cylinder and in-line six-cylinder with EQ Boost (integrated starter/generator) and a 48 volt onboard electrical system powers the CLS 350, CLS 450 4MATIC and CLS 53 4MATIC+. The integrated electric motor known as EQ Boost assists the combustion engine e.g. when accelerating, makes driving without the combustion engine possible (“sailing”) and supplies the battery with power by means of high-efficiency recuperation. By doing so it makes fuel savings possible that were previously the exclusive domain of high-voltage hybrid technology. All in all, the new in-line six-cylinder engine delivers the performance of an eight-cylinder engine with significantly lower consumption. The CLS 450 4MATIC is equipped with a particulate filter as standard.

14 years. Yes, 14 years it has been before Suzuki unveiled their 4th generation of their Suzuki line-up which is the Jimny. It was launched earlier today at Suzuki Showroom at Gadong.

The revamped 4th generation Jimny has an overall different feel as compared to the 3rd generation. You can already tell from the exterior feel how the latest Jimny is much more rugged and furthermore, it is ALLGRIP car meaning it’s a 4×4 which will give the drivers the off-road experience.

What caught my eye the most is the look and feel. It doesn’t deviate too much from its corporate identity as you can still tell it’s a Jimny but the facelift makes me more relevant to the current trends globally.

The Suzuki Jimny is suitable for many purposes including outdoor adventure concept. I’m pretty sure this model will be a hit among the young and the not-so young because it appeals to all walks of life.

There’s ample legroom and headroom for the comfort of the passengers and the driver. Back space for luggage is bigger than previous model.

The upgraded Jimny is the first Suzuki’s model in Brunei to be equipped with a newly developed 1.5 liter engine, hence, creates strong torque for powerful off-road performance and delivers high fuel efficiency due to a lightweight compact design.

The safety features are quite enhanced in a way. There is the Hill Hold Control which makes hill starts easier by preventing the car from rolling backward (uuuuu me likes that feature), Hill Descent Control which automatically applies the brake when traveling downhill and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which detects spillage to give the drivers a peace of mind when driving off-road. Furthermore, the body frame centres on Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept, resulting in a structure that efficiently absorbs and disperse energy in the event of a collision.

The prices are quite competitive and reasonable. Maybe even entice you to get one. The units so far are fully booked but members of the public are welcome to view the showroom models until 9th November 2018. There will be refreshments and also limited edition door gifts for those who come today and tomorrow.

Royal Brunei Airlines flight BI003 made an important diversion and landed at Vienna International Airport, Austria, yesterday after the aircraft had some technical issues

Due to technical issues, Royal Brunei Airlines flight BI003 from Bandar Seri Begawan (BWN) to London Heathrow (LHR) on 07th November 2018 has made a diversion landing at Vienna International Airport.

The safety and security of our guests is of paramount importance to RB and we are currently working to ensure our passengers will safely reach London Heathrow through other carriers.

Please be advised that Flight BI004 on 07th November 2018 from London Heathrow to Bandar Seri Begawan is cancelled. Guests are currently rerouted on other airlines.

Note:

It hasn’t been confirmed on what the technical issue is and no statement or press release given by Royal Brunei Airlines to confirm on the specific technical issues. It was definitely a significant technical issue as RB flight B1003 had to make an unscheduled landing at Vienna International Airport. What’s more important are the safety of the passengers, pilots and crew on board. Kudos to the pilots for the quick thinking, considering this is a long haul flight (14 hours) and a non-stop flight from Brunei Darussalam to London. Appreciation also goes to the crew on board to calm the situation and making sure everyone is safe and in good hands. Alhamdulillah.

When we thought that Twitter is not relevant anymore, it still is as the pictures of the incident were being circulated and it was a screenshot from twitter, @FlightAlerts_ to be specific.

On board on the flight B1003 was Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa Ash’ari, a member of the Legislative Council, who tweeted on the whole ordeal from checking in in Brunei International Airport to finally arriving in London safely. She did highlight one thing though – Travel insurance 🙂 Oh yes, how that is so important and let’s not taking everything for granted.

Let’s hope the situation of such incident is a rare one. Once again, kudos to the pilots and the crew on handling the situation and the swift thinking of the pilots.
