Experimenting the Mercedes-Benz E200 with the auto pilot parallel parking and it was a success. Without playing with the gear and the brakes. Such a useful feature especially when you don’t have the confidence to do parallel parking within a limited time.

Previously I have driven the Mercedes-Benz E300 and then recently I had the privilege to drive the E200 which has an updated feature in the system. Both are equally good rides and E200 has lesser power of course but a more affordable ride than the E300.

The E200 is simply a nice ride. Elegant, I must say and as always, smooth like butter. I have preference of driving the C-Class because it suits my personality. Now I can see how the E-Class has evolved in terms of its vehicle design. It has a more modern and edgy look compared to the previous E-Class design. It also looks sporty feel to it.

I also love the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive especially the fully automated parking. You simply just have to press the button while looking for a parking space – be it parallel or reverse parking – and just trust the E200 to be on auto pilot to park the vehicle on its designated spot. This means you don’t really even have to change gears (forward or reverse) or press on the brakes. Just let the E200 do the parking for you. It’s scary at first but the E200 is intelligent enough to detect its surroundings and park to almost perfection.

The interior has a great finish and again, an uplift, modern look for both the driver and passenger. It’s quite spacious as well which is a plus point for me.

Features are great such as the moonlighting and also the E200 has an already enabled Mercedes-Benz apps at your disposal. You can be fully connected to the system when you connect it to Wifi. I even tried surfing my blog on the display panel and it works fine. It’s just the tediousness to type the url on the address bar as there is no proper keyboard.

Once you are connected to the internet, you can also asked for navigation and maybe most of you will prefer to use the Internet Radio which is already pre-installed as part of the Mercedes-Benz apps.

There’s many to like about the E200 and it’s available for test drive too. You can contact Jati Transport or visit their showroom Autohaus at Beribi. If you ask me, the E200 would be my second preference after the C-Class (the C43 mmmmmm).

From now until end of the year, Merceds-Benz Autohaus has extended the showroom opening hours over the weekend, 10am to 4pm. The extended opening hours are aimed at providing an added luxury by being able to visit at a time of their preference.

The test drive will be available for most the latest Mercedes-Benz models including A-Class, one of the best sellers of 2018. I have test driven the car and it’s one of the best rides of 2018. Trust me 😀

Five stars for the Audi Q3 in Euro NCAP test

The new Audi Q3 offers bumper-to-bumper safety: The compact family SUV earned the top score of five stars in the Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme), one of the most important automobile safety tests in Europe.

To get the highest rating of five stars, a car has to score in all key Euro NCAP criteria. The new Audi Q3 succeeded in doing so with flying colors – in the category adult occupant protection as well as for child safety, vulnerable road user protection and driver assistance systems. The actively supporting safety systems – which include automatic emergency braking for city traffic and for highways – are included in the overall NCAP assessment with a 40% weighting for adult occupant, 20% weighting for vulnerable road users and 20% weighting for safety assist.

The new Audi Q3 has these technologies on board. The safety systems Audi pre sense basic and Audi pre sense front are standard equipment. The latter provides the driver with a visual, audible and haptic warning when critical situation involving pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles are detected via radar. It even initiates emergency braking if necessary. Also included as standard equipment is Audi side assist, which warns of hazards when changing lanes Audi active lane assist is also standard. This system helps to prevent the vehicle from leaving its lane unintentionally. The optional assistance package bundles the adaptive cruise assist, camera-based traffic sign recognition, parking system plus, high-beam assist and emergency assist.

The new Audi Q3 is also tops when it comes to passenger protection. Components made of hot-shaped steel form the backbone of the passenger cell. They are used primarily at the transition from the longitudinal members to the bulkhead, in the center tunnel, the sills, the A- and B-pillars, the roof frame and the rear longitudinal members. The hot-shaped components, which combine low weight with extreme strength, comprise 26% of the body by weight. Their combination lays the foundation for high crash safety and rigidity. 

The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) is supported by a consortium of European transport ministries, automobile clubs, insurance associations and research institutes. Twelve institutions from eight European countries are involved. Almost all new vehicles are tested and rated on their passive and active safety in the Euro NCAP. The program’s test requirements considerably exceed the applicable standards required under European legislation.

One of the lucky customers of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd was very grateful that the company hosted such event outside of Brunei Darussalam for their customers. Not just one or two customers but 10 lucky customers had the privilege to test drive different ranges of the Mercedes-Benz models on the famous Sepang International Circuit, Selangor, Malaysia recently.

This was also made possible by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia as the winners were able to participate in the Mercedes-Benz Driving Experience 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.

Our Brunei representatives was grouped with the Philippines, Singapore and Bangladesh. All of us were treated to stay at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and it truly fitted the occasion hosted by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

We were treated to a great hospitality team by MBM at the Paddock Club 1, maybe the best I’ve experience at Sepang International Circuit and we were given awesome Mercedes goodies. Let’s not forget the free flow of food and beverage during the whole day session.

Before experiencing the different rides on the different Mercedes-Benz models, the participants were greeted by Peter Hackett, MBM AMG Representative/Chief Driving Instructor/Australian Endurance Championship GT Race Driver and he gave a run down of the program and also a briefing on certain skills such as braking, wheels and most of important, safety in dangerous situations.

So which models did we drive? The C300, The A250, The CLS 450 and lastly, my favourite, The AMG C 43. Most of us were able to also drive the GLCs. The instructors were very accommodating and helped the participants to go through the activities – the Slalom course, the Race Start Simulation and the Drifting Session.

I actually enjoyed all the activities and especially the lapping sessions which took place after lunch. This meant we were able to drive the whole track of the Sepang International Circuit and we took turns to drive all the models prepared by MBM.

I didn’t try the Taxi Ride session where the instructors did a hot lap session so the participant got to experience how professional racers drive on the track.

The Brunei participants didn’t go empty handed as we walked with goodie bags and also certificate of participation. One Bruneian, Reuben Fang, was awarded the Best Male Driver by the organiser. Awesome, huh? Congratulations, buddy!!

I could tell that the Brunei group had fun during the one day event. They also took the opportunity to take photos with the newly launched AMG G 63 and also the AMG GLC 63 which were being displayed at the Sepang International Circuit.

Let’s hope this sort of event will be a yearly thing for Mercedes-Benz customers. I wonder what models will be introduced in the next driving event.

“Best of the Best” award in Spain: Audi e-tron is SUV of the Year
Publishing group Spainmedia singled out the fully electric powered Audi e-tron as best SUV of the year. Apart from the efficient drive technology, the premium character and the quality of the full-size SUV were particularly compelling. Spainmedia publishes the Spanish edition of the renowned luxury magazine “Robb Report” and presents its “Best of the Best” awards for products and services in twelve categories. These include watches, wines and cosmetics as well as the two automobile categories SUVs and new products. The field of entrants included more than 50 car models.

German Car Awards 2019: second place for the new Audi A6
The new Audi A6 took second place in the German Car Awards 2019. 59 models with an entry-level price under 100,000 euros competed for the awards. All these models were launched over the past twelve months in Germany. A 14-strong jury tested five of them on public roads and on the Bilster Berg racetrack near Paderborn. The automotive journalists and experts assessed a total of 12 categories, including driving pleasure, safety, comfort, infotainment, design and quality. Once again the Audi A6 proved to be a balanced, versatile multitalent in the full-size class.

“Best of Show”: Audi 100 Coupé S in “Great Wall” classic rally in China
This year participants clocked up more than 500 kilometers (310.7 mi) in the “Great Wall” classic rally in China, organized by German magazine Auto Bild. Three automobiles lined up on the starting grid for Audi China: an Auto Union 1000SP, an Audi 200 and an Audi 100 Coupé S. The coupé took the “Best of Show” award in the Yanqi Island Concours d’Elegance. Audi secured the runner-up slot in the team rankings for the rally.

Audi R8: award from CNET in the United States
The CNET consumer portal awarded the Audi R8 V10 RWS Coupé (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 12.4 (19.0 US mpg); combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 283 (455.4 g/mi)) the “Editor’s Choice Award” in the “Roadshow” category. The 540-hp high-performance sports car scored 9.1 out of a possible ten points; the car also came away with 9.5 points in the two individual rankings of “Performance” and “Media.” According to the jury’s verdict, the rear-wheel drive takes the excellent R8 driving experience to a new level and turns the Audi R8 V10 RWS Coupé into an exclusive option. CNET tests and assesses high-quality products and uses its “Editor’s Choice Award” to single out the best product in a total of 20 different categories.

Gold and Silver: “Q8 Unleashed” at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards
The Golden Dolphin for the best webisode of the year went to Audi. That was the jury’s verdict at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. The five-part mini-series entitled “Q8 Unleashed” about a young couple from California came to life as part of the advance communications campaign for the world premiere of the Audi Q8. Produced in collaboration with Kropac Media GmbH, the series provided the first glimpse of the new SUV. In the “Best Integrated Communication” category, the Q8 Unleashed campaign was awarded Silver. Besides internal channels, the series was also shown on YouTube and Amazon Prime Video.

Audi obtains top results in digital services: victories with Forrester study and Auto Bild
Vorsprung in the digital world: A study by IT research company Forrester Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts (United States) singled out Audi as the “Strongest Performer in European Automotive Websites.” Audi’s digital offerings stood out in particular for their user experience and superb functionality. Users receive tailored offerings and, in turn, excellent content support for their decision. Top spot also went to the Audi vehicle configurator with a test organized by Auto Bild in August, further testimony to the brand’s success. The large amount of information provided was especially compelling. The magazine also praised the “impeccable presence on the net.”

Yesterday was a yearly event held by Jati Transport Sdn Bhd which was the appreciation day for their customers and fans of Mercedes-Benz in Brunei Darussalam. It was also a way of showing their appreciation to the customers in trusting their products and services offered by Jati Transport Sdn Bhd.

Also present were Pengiran Anak Haji Ja’afar ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, the Executive Chairman of Jati Transport Sdn, Andrew Chiam, the Executive Director of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd, Alfred Soo, General Manager of Jati Transport and other management of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd.

Hundreds dropped by Mercedes Autohaus at Beribi and they were treated to a wide variety of food and other activities such as statue dance, photo booth, dance workshop, face painting to name a few. On the side note, Stephen Reid, Service Manager of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd, also made presentation on types to raise the awareness of safety.

The Service Department of Jati Transport Sdn Bhd introduced the Mercedes-Benz Star Select. It is a maintenance program for Mercedes Benz models for five years and older with up to 35% off on services and repairs. The offer will be valid until June 30, 2019.

The event also saw customers test driving the available models of the Mercedes-Benz.
