More updates on this soon
Despite the official letter from DPMM FC, ABDB responded by declining the request of their players notably Rosmin Hj Kamis which could be a huge blow to DPMM FC squad. According to source, DPMM FC have eyed on several players (around 6-7) in rebuilding their team for the S-League tournament next year should their application in the S-League gets the green light.
If you have been reading the local papers, DPMM FC is back in training once more after FIFA has lifted the suspension on Brunei and under the new body National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, DPMM FC are able to register as an official club in Brunei and hence they are once again eligible to play locally and internationally. However, DPMM FC are now playing the waiting game as their proposal to the S-League is still pending, awaiting approval.
I finally met the coach Suminic who is now back coaching for DPMM FC. He was previously coaching a Vietnamese club before terminating his contract and he’s definitely happy to be back. Now he’s focusing on getting the match fitness of the players where some had not been training for a few months and also lacking the fitness level.
They were some inclusion of veteran players such as “Tunga” who has been training with DPMM FC lately. Pg Salleh is perhaps the oldest player in the team. As for the import players, George O’Gallaghan (Ireland) and Tales Ricate Dos Santos (Brazil) have been signed by DPMM FC. As of now, there are other import players fighting for the last two spots. It was also rumoured that one of the previous import players might be given a consideration but it’s still early days to say. However, the signing of Tales Ricate Dos Santos meant that DPMM FC won’t be requiring the services of Rene Komar who plays the same role back in 2009.
Today DPMM FC will have a friendly match against U-23 SEA Games team for match practice at the 4:45pm at the Jerudong Mini-Stadium. One potential player to look out for Adi Hj Mohd Said, the younger brother of DPMM FC striker Shahrazen Hj Md Said. He will be playing for the U-23 team and he’s also a squad of DPMM FC.
It’s good to see Suminic coaching DPMM FC once more. He’s still very much passionate about the club. His best achievement is DPMM FC’s Singapore League Cup back in 2009
George O’Gallagan, the Irish attacking midfielder, is one of the import players for DPMM FC. He has a deadly free-kick and moves very fluidly on the pitch. Will he be an influential player maker for DPMM FC?
Perhaps the most experienced player in the club. Pg Salleh, in his late 30s, still shows what he has got under his belt. His experience will bring some steel in the squad.
Nicknamed Inzaghi (left) showed a lot of commitment during training while Tunga (right) has been included in the squad and training too. It still early days to see their roles for DPMM FC.
DPMM FC have been searching for younger blood and he is one of them. In fact, Suminic is eyeing for hungry and committed players.
One from Australia, the other from Liberia. They are trial players and they will be featured later in the friendly match. They will be competing against three to four more import players who will be arriving this week. Pressure will be on them to perform in that one or two practice match
This is a very interesting place for children of all age. Sometimes I wish I’m still a kid because the things available at Fun Bee Park are awesome!!!! This is what is lacking in Brunei – a place for children to have fun while parents do their shopping somewhere else.
At Fun Bee Park, they promote “Learning through Playing”. Their intention is to stimulate your child’s imagination with state-of-the-art creative learning programs. From shapes to numbers, theatre to music, design to medic, precious values to logics, this is education filled with play and laughter.
You will be surprised that your kid may be gifted with creativity. So this is very ideal as they will not play but also learn and unveil their talents. This will also create a lot of curiousity among the children which they will benefit through learning new things from Fun Bee Park.
Cecilia spoke to the media while giving us the educational tour of Fun Bee Park. This is a highly recommended place for children.
Lego City and this is more like a play room for children. Oh yea, the slide won’t accommodate those weighing more than 30 kg – Note to Fairol *lol*
They have two section areas for art and craft. This side focuses more of painting. Who knows your artwork can be sold too.
The sliding door unveiled the painting materials behind so all the materials are already provided for the children. Awesome!!!
This is another area for creating clay work and also batik painting, stone painting and other designing jobs.
Cecilia demonstrated a mixture of clay and painting technique where children can learn and be more creative
Michelle was guiding me how to do “batik painting”. Children will love this kind of painting
The result of my painting. Not that great, huh? Children will love to experiment with batik painting. Thanks Michelle for your help
Some of the activities at Fun Bee Park
1. Art and craft – batik, paper, stone, clay, soap, wax and design.
2. Daily life skills – cooking, housekeeping, sewing, beading, business and fund management.
3. Performances – little chef show, talent time, fashion show, drama, music, daily play, poet and song.
4. Monthly event – Birthday party, theme gathering, and costume design.
5. Special activities – holiday camp (December) and parent’s day
6. Future plan – kids TV programs to air on RTB
Facilities:
The center is equipped with
1. 4 Art and craft studios – library, reading corner, shopping counter, art making / molding section
2. Kitchen studio – proper kitchen for cook, bake and sculpt with big tv screen
3. Lego City – all kinds of lego
All of these are created from clay. Interesting indeed.
Cecilia blowing up a balloon. Kids can make balloons too as part of their activities
Cecilia with the management and staff of Fun Bee Park
We did some cooking during the sneak preview. Perhaps we are eligible for the “senior master chef”?? The dish we had to cook was fries with eggs
Notice anything odd? It has been a while since I cooked. I’m still pretty rusty.
This is the kitchen studio and I’m impressed that the management invested this facilities for the children. This gets my two thumbs up and I’m pretty sure this is the best selling factor for parents to send their kids here.
Clay painting could be your new hobby

It was mentioned that Brunei is included in the list of top 10 countries that have improved the most in terms of the “Ease of Doing Business” among the world. I know some would have disagreed with this notion especially those who are struggling to get their businesses in operation due to the procedures from the relevant agencies.
This topic was part of the Brunei Business Forum 2011 and it was brought up during the panel session where the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Pehin Dato Hj Yahya answered the questions put forward by the audience and it was moderated by Shazali Dato Sulaiman.
Pehin Dato Hj Yahya – “We may be faster than ourselves previously, but we are still not fast enough to catch on what (pace) other countries are moving, with what we have done. If we move two steps, countries like Vietnam are moving four steps.”
Dato Paduka Timothy Ong – “There are two findings. The first is that in the top 10 economies, there are three small countries: Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand. The second is that Brunei is not ranked very well, but is listed as one of the most improved. This shows that small countries, like Brunei, can be very highly ranked.”
Shazali Dato Sulaiman – “I believe that business associations such as Chambers of Commerce, YEAB and Women’s Business Councils should be involved in some of the SME initiatives and committees that were highlighted by YB Pehin Dato Yahya.
Year 2010 to Year 2029 has been designated the decade for the development of SMEs in Brunie which we were not aware of. This is to enable us to give Government feedback on some of their policies and also to give a ground level of assessment of the true position of SME’s in Brunei and what are the problems faced. We can also assist in giving solutions and ideas. What we want is a true Public Private Partnership where the Government is seen to be consulting the private sector with respect to policy and implementation issues.”
These were some of the quotes by Pehin Dato Hj Yahya, Dato Paduka Timothy Ong and Shazali Dato Sulaiman at the Brunei Business Forum 2011. Brunei is still playing the catch up game in improving steps on “Ease of Doing Business”. This is still one of the big issues here in Brunei and we hope the relevant agencies take this matter seriously.

I missed the morning session.. It was perhaps one of the best rounds in the University category where University of Brunei Darussalam edged ITB in the semi-finals of the BSP UBD Green Debate. I should also thanked @izamwrites for the constant updates on the morning session of the debate. For your info, UBD is represented by @sengyeeciara and two crews from @UBDFM – @JMaxine @ickydoodles.
The 2011 BSP UBD Green Debate was successfullly organised by the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad (BSP) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the preliminaries took place at The Core at UBD. The topics were relating to environmental issues and sustainability.
This is one way to heighten the awareness and importance of Brunei Darussalam’s environmental leadership. The mission of the debate is to provide a premier debate platform for Brunei students on global environmental issues with the vision of nurture and environmentally conscious leaders for the sustainable development of Brunei Darussalam.
This year, there are two categories – University and Pre-university. In total, there are 12 participating teams from three districts. In the finals of the University category, UBD will square off against UNISSA. In the finals of the Pre-University category, Sekolah Menangah Sayyidina Ali (SMSA) will face off against Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah (MD).
The finals will take place at The Empire Hotel, 20th October 2011. If you want to read the judges’ comments, you can click [click here].

Nasi Lemak 2.0 My bad, my bad.. My assumptions were wrong. I thought it was a purely Malay movie just because it was produced in Malaysia by Prodigee Media. I opted to catch this movie because of the rave reviews I’ve been hearing from my peers. AnakBrunei caught the movie twice, SP gave it a thumbs up and recommended me to catch because of the great message it relays to the audience.
I have to agree that there’s such a great message with a sense of unity as well among different races in Malaysia. This also can be said for other regional countries and even Brunei. The movie reminds me of the Stephen Chow era where he produced and acted in ridiculous yet entertaining movies (Shaolin Soccer, Kungfu Hustle). Nasi Lemak can be similarly said of the same genre but not that extent. It does have its flaws but I was still entertained and not too bothered by it. Oh yeah, there are some sexual innuendos if you are sharp enough to notice it. Then again, some of the scenes were pretty obvious. Verdict: 7.5/10
Johnny English Reborn. What can I say about Rowan Atkison? If I were to choose between Rob Schneider and Rowan Atkison, the former gets the thumb from me. This is the sequel to Johnny English (2003) and what can you expect from a Rowan Atkison movie. I’m not a big fan of Mr. Bean movies though so I might just be slightly biased. Then again, I was still entertained by the lameness, the stupidity and the slap-stick humour which some were predictable at most times.
There was once that I was laughing in tears because @delgoh suddenly cracked up laughing at one scene by himself *lol* Don’t expect a brilliant plot or script. Keep your expectations lower and you will surely enjoy this flick. What surprised me was the the clapping ovation it received in the end. I just hope they were clapping for the lameness of the movie. Verdict: 7/10
Contagion. This movie is not for kids or children. Perhaps it’s the mature theme it contained. This is similar to epidemic movies such as Outbreak or 28 Days Later. Well, frankly speaking I love 28 Days Later because it was very edgy and full of suspense. Yes, Contagion did give me some sense of suspense but it was not something I would rate very high.
There are some famous casts in the movie and all of them played brilliantly in their respective roles. I became more aware on how such epidemic can cause a shift in a society or a community. There are some flaws in the movies that I won’t go further into. Catch this movie and you might learn a thing or two. For me, it was pleasant enough and worth the watch. Verdict: 7/10
Friends with benefits. Another Justin Timberlake movie. So what happened to his music career? Well, I’m still pretty impressed with his filmography though. Both his movies Bad Teacher and Friends with Benefits are reaping $$$ and let’s not forget his 2010 success in movies (Shrek Forever After, The Social Network and Yogi Bear).
I’m pretty sure this movie won’t even make it to the local cinemas. The title speaks for itself and the content of the movie is something that the censorship board will have problems dealing with *lol* I kinda enjoyed this movie though this is not a politically moral story that should be followed by example. I won’t go further into details but this is definitely not for kids. Verdict: 7/10
Smurf. Ok, this is one movie that I mentioned that I won’t catch but “someone” persuaded me *lol* I read the reviews on Rottentomatoes.com and I knew what to expect for this animated movie. I grew up watching Smurf mind you but I wasn’t really impressed with the trailers. Smurf will always be smurf and I think majority of the female audience are drawn by the cuteness of the blue creature. For me, it was nothing exciting but definitely a good movie for families. It’s running low on screening now in local cinemas but I’m pretty sure quite a lot have caught this movie. Verdict: 6/10

Embracing the old and the new
This incident happened back in November 2010 where one of the stalls at The Mall Food Court somehow caught on fire. So most of the stalls were closed for safety reasons and there was also an evacuation back then.
10 months later, it happened again. The source of the incident is unclear but from an eye witness, it was only a black smoke from one of the stalls and not a fire. The evacuation only last an hour and kudos to the “Bomba” and the authorities for making sure the safety of the people in the building.
This afternoon, around 4:15pm, the incident happened and everyone was asked to evacuate the building due to a black smoke from one of the stalls. Great news is that no one is hurt or injured. Thanks also to my followers on Twitter for updating me information and also @harimaulim for alerting me on the news.
I’m sure the relevant authorities will look into this matter and investigate the cause of it. It’s still unknown to what may have cause this. By the way, the businesses at The Mall is back to normal after the situation has been cleared and safe for business. I will be catching a movie tonight at The Mall Cineplex so it’s good thing that businesses are not affected. Thank you to @zzqh for the images on Twitter.

This is always the question that newly weds always encounter.. Where or what should they buy their wedding gifts or souvenirs for their guests? Apparently one of my friends has a side business and they actually can order for you from a popular wholesaler, Yovell and they have corporate office in Singapore too. The wholesaler specialized in wedding gifts apart from other souvenir or corporate gifts.
In fact, it doesn’t necessarily have to be wedding souvenirs as they also have choices for corporate gifts, birthday giveaways and many more. Perhaps the best part of Yovell is the packaging and the tags. They also have great quality in their products so you won’t be disappointed even paying at a reasonable and affordable price.
So here’s the procedure to follow.
1) Visit the website Yovell
2) Choose the product you want
3) Contact 877-2910 or email james_2910@hotmail.com
4) Of course, the beauty of this is you can negotiate on prices and perhaps more benefits to enjoy

Mr. RA Do you think that the ‘Red Bull Rookies’ are able to change the perception that ‘women are bad drivers’? Ogy: Yes, this will show to the man out there that women also can drive fast and safe too. For those with low confidence, don’t be scared. Always fasten your seat belt and drive the correct lane.

Mr. RA Have you ever felt intimidated during the race or generally driving on the road? Tell us your experience.
Ogy: Yes, when I was about to bump in with Ameerah during the final selection but luckly I managed to control the car and I do not panic.
Mr. RA How has the driving courses by AADA helped you hone your driving skills?
Ogy: The experience during the course helps me upgrade my driving skill.
Mr. RA Do you have any specific driver that you look up to?

As much as 418.5 kilogrammes of waste materials was successfully collected within 1.5hr by a group of 151 volunteers who participated at the Beach Bunch clean-up at Jerudong Beach yesterday morning. The collected waste, comprising 100kg of plastic, 1.5kg aluminiums and 317kg of general waste were loaded to a recycling company pick-up truck for recycling process.
The clean-up campaign has received encouraging responses from members of the public as well as eco-friendly groups in the country. It was also participated by Poni Divers group who conducted under water cleanup.
The co-founder of Brunei’s Beach Bunch, Mr Alan Tan said, “This is the second time Beach Bunch has organised a clean-up. Today is the third Saturday of September and an International Coastal Cleanup Day is usually held all around the world and it is the second time Brunei have participated in such event.” He said Beach Bunch has been very committed to carry out this mission to clean up beaches because they try to show to the world that they care about the world. Mr Alan said: “We are doing the cleanup in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy, Project Aware and Cleanup The World, in order to help keep our waterways clean.”
On the third Saturday of September, data will be compiled and send to Ocean Conservancy, which they will put in an international database. He said, “Ocean Conservancy is basically a non-profit organisation in the United States that organises clean-ups and underwater clean-ups. He said Ocean Conservancy had been very supportive of us and when they first heard about what we have been doing, they asked us to join them.
“We conducted an event at Serasa Beach, which was participated by 56 volunteers including divers, jet skiers and individuals. And this year, the respond was very encouraging and we were very happy.
“The last time we held a similar campaign in Serasa Beach, we managed to collect more than 400kg worth of waste within two hours with only 65 volunteers. “It is very sad to see the state of the Jerudong Beach. A load of rubbish is seen washed up on the seashore left by people,” he said.

Another cleanup event will be held in Tutong, Belait and Brunei-Muara Districts next year, and the campaign will be held at the same time as this year.
Alan also said that the Beach Bunch will continue to encourage Bruneians and the general public to help in looking after the beaches and help protect them as much as possible as well as reduce the wastage.
He said at the moment, Beach Bunch is trying to reach towards the younger generation through educating the students and schools by inviting them to join the clean-up events.
He also said that the Poni Divers is also helping them carrying out the underwater clean-up projects. Cikgu Nur Alya who led a group from Tumpuan Telisai Primary School said, “Our group is from the Girl Guide comprising students from Year One and Year Five, aged six to 11 years old.”
The volunteers were groups from STPRI, ISB, JIS, Yayasan SHHB, Girls Guide from Tumpuan Telesai Primary School, Maktab Duli, ITB, UBD, Ahmad Zaki group, Sharul Group as well as other individuals.
