Catch Brunei tonight against Malaysia and it looks like Brunei must win by 2 goals to go through to the semi-finals
It’s a tall order but I believe Brunei can do it. Adi Said and Hendra will be so important for this match against Malaysia tonight in the group stage of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2014. It’s the final game of the group stage and Brunei need at least to win by two goals to guarantee themselves in the semi-finals.
Adi Said and Hendra are both familiar with Malaysia as most of them represent Harimau Muda in the S•League and they know what it is like to face the Malaysia U-21 team. Brunei recently drew with Vietnam 2-2 last Friday and it could have been worst for Brunei if they didn’t earn any points at all against Vietnam. The hero that game was Adi Said who clawed Brunei back twice with two excellent goals.
It seems that Brunei will have to work their game play around Adi who is the game changer. It will be tough if Adi won’t be playing for Brunei and the head coach will have to come up with Plan B to gain maximum points against Malaysia tonight.
It’s a free entrance match with no tickets involved. So do come early to get the best seats in town. I’m pretty sure it will be a packed house because we want as many supporters as possible to give that needed much support for Brunei to beat Malaysia. To beat Malaysia is a tall order because they are undefeated and not only Brunei has to beat them but with a 2 goal cushion.
Brunei needs you – the 12th man

In addition, executive member from each club also shared experiences and perspectives on their organisation success plan.
Allen Ang, president of Oil Town Talkers said in the session, “We do not focus on membership growth in terms of numbers, we are more concerned with helping individual member grow and achieve their personal goals. That is why we cater tour individual members’ needs.”
He included nurturing successful individuals through productive mentor and mentee relationships are characteristics of a successful leader. Successful Toastmasters know that mentoring is a crucial element in developing skills through the Toastmasters program. In Brunei, different clubs work together to help each other to grow.
Last year, Stuart Lee from the Brunei Advanced Speakers’ Club made history when he won the Toastmasters humorous speech contest in District 87. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, centre, said on Friday at a press conference that the MH17’s flight route was declared safe by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), adding that the International Air Transportation Association had stated that the airspace the aircraft was traversing was not subject to restrictions. Image courtesy of Xinhua/Rex
Taken from feed news of The Brunei Times: Ukraine said passenger plane carrying 295 people was shot down on Thursday as it flew over the country, and both the government and the pro-Russia separatists fighting in the region denied any responsibility for downing the plane.
As plumes of black smoke rose up near a rebel-held village of Grabovo in eastern Ukraine, an Associated Press journalist counted at least 22 bodies at the crash site 40 km (25 miles) from the Russian border.
The plane appeared to have broken up before impact and the burning wreckage – including body parts and the belongings of passengers – was scattered over a wide area.
Malaysia Airlines tweeted that it lost contact with one of its flights carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew as it was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur over Ukrainian airspace, but did not yet confirm the crash.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called the downing an act of terrorism and called for an international investigation into the crash.
The Donetsk region government said a plane crashed Thursday near a village called Grabovo, which it said is currently under the control of the separatists. The region where the flight was lost has seen severe fighting between the two sides in recent days.
Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, said on his Facebook page the plane was flying at an altitude of 10,000 metres (33,000 feet). He said it was hit by a missile fired from a Buk launcher, which can fire missiles up to an altitude of 22,000 meters (72,000 feet).
The Malaysia Airlines plane is a Boeing 777-200ER, which was delivered to Malaysia Airlines on July 30, 1997, according to Flightglobal’s Ascend Online Fleets, which sells and tracks information about aircraft. It has more than 43,000 hours of flight time and 6,950 takeoffs and landings.
Poroshenko said his country’s armed forces didn’t shoot at any airborne targets.
“We do not exclude that this plane was shot down, and we stress that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not take action against any airborne targets,” he said. “We are sure that those who are guilty in this tragedy will be held responsible.”
Separatist leader Andrei Purgin told The Associated Press that he was certain that Ukrainian troops had shot the plane down but gave no explanation or proof for his statement.
Purgin said he did not know whether rebel forces owned Buk missile launchers, but said even if they did, there had no fighters capable of operating it.
My Say: Firstly, my deepest condolences to the family and friends who are related to the passengers of MH17 of Malaysia Airlines. This is indeed another tragedy and news that I really didn’t want to hear. I hope there will be a definite conclusion to the ongoing investigation. There are so many speculations after the crash of MH17. I’m just sadden by the whole ordeal and I do hope the relevant authorities to get to the bottom of this.
Yes, this has been a bad year for Malaysia Airlines and it was reported that the shares have fallen 35% this year and perhaps Malaysia Airlines was still reeling from the impact of the flight MH370’s March disappearance. The shares have dropped down by 11% just today which is already a bad indication. It will take a milestone to bring back where Malaysia Airlines was. I believe Malaysia Airlines can get out of the deep hole and it will lead a great leadership to get pass the loss and the pain before it can bring back the confidence and trust from the public.

Will Brunei retain the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy this August? Image courtesy of The Brunei Times.
Perhaps the highlight earlier this year was when the management were conducting trials for the Brunei U-21 team back in January as they were preparing for the supposedly tournament earlier in April 2014. The plan didn’t materialised in terms of hosting the event in April and it was postponed till further notice. However, this is still great news because this will give ample time for Brunei to prepare for the HBT tournament. They were already many question marks as why the trials were only planned three months before the actual tournament then as it’s never easy to gel new players in the time span given. I’m not pretty sure how the preparations have been since beginning of the year but I’m sure that manager Hj Feisal Hj Eusoff and coach Kwon Oh-Son have sorted this out.
Last weekend was the draw for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2014 and Brunei is now placed in Group B with the likes of Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. In Group A are Timor-Leste, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand. The only one missing here is Indonesia as they won’t be able to compete due to the clashes with the ongoing Indonesian football league.
Well, I still find that a bit odd since Indonesia has a population of 200 million and yet they can’t field a squad of 24 to represent Indonesia U-21. I kinda find that reason to be … ah, no comment. For your info, Indonesia was runner-up in the previous tournament and it was a very heated match, not for the players on the field but for the supporters out there as there were commotions happening prior to the match and during the match. Sometimes when you are too passionate about your country and the ego get the better of you, things are easier to escalate to an uglier scene.
As for a vote of uncertainty, team manager Hj Feisal Hj Eusoff shared that Brunei is not ready for next month’s 5th Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy as he said they are far from being prepared for the August 9-23 regional Under-21 tournament. He said that the players’ are not at the level they should be and further more, they haven’t selected their first eleven, let alone choosing the final 18 squad.
I believe there is still hope for Brunei. They did it two years ago with great difficulty and yet they prevail. Brunei is the defending champion and I believe they can excel to greater heights.
The manager conveyed his thanks to DPMM FC for allowing to use some of their players – Adi Said, Najib and Hendra and also thanked National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) for their never ending support and also to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
I shall update you the progress of the Brunei U-21 team. For now, good luck for the preparations.

This is the crowd that we are gonna miss – the Indonesian fans
Najib from DPMM FC will be representing Brunei U-21 team
Hendra will be in Brunei colours once again this August
The actual draw for this year’s HBT 2014
Let’s hope that the crowd can be controlled especially when it comes to ticket distribution. Do you think there should be a small value given for the tickets? Image courtesy of @iam_nashar
Wu Chun with Giorgio Armani at Fashion Week in France
As glamorous haute couture creations takes the runway in paris, media from around the globe gather at Paris for the pre-fall and winter collection Fashion Week in the months of July. Not only that, fashion enthusiasts from around the world fly in to Paris during this month to enjoy the great summer sales and at the same time, trying to get a glimpse of all the world renowned designers and celebrities at all the famous museum which are used as the venue for most of the fashion show for the top designers in the fashion industry.
Wu Chun who has been recognised as a fashion figure in the showbiz partly because of his well-built physical appearance has a close relationship with some of the top fashion designer brands in the world and has attended numerous fashion shows or invited as the spokesperson for the opening ceremony for the designer stores.
Christian Dior’s couture show in Paris on Monday was the fashion equivalent of a concept album. The show was held at Musée Rodin’s gardens in a circular tent decorated with thousands of white orchids and displayed the latest confections by Belgian designer Raf Simons.
Extended over six segments, models dressed in everything from full-skirted ballgowns to full-length fur coats, chiffon slips and embroidered parachute silk boilersuits walked around a circular white room wrapped in chrome and covered – floor to ceiling – in white orchids. It even had a soundtrack of alpha experimentalists Sonic Youth.
This year, Wu Chun was invited to experience the Fashion week in Paris where he had the chance to sit in the front row with some of the top celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence who fame has shot up during the last few years with her blockbuster hit, The Hunger game. Wu Chun was also joined by the Harry Potter female lead actress, Emma Watson,Charlize Theron and Sean Penn at the Christian Dior Fashion Show. Put together, it was a dizzying expression of creative director Raf Simons’ vision for this revered Parisian house: futuristic, red carpet friendly and art-house all at once.
In the show notes, Simons said the Dior collection was about bringing “the attitude of contemporary reality to something very historical” and finding something modern as the result. This concept collection – assured, new but rich with varied reference – suggests he might have done just that.
The Simons effect at Dior sent couture sales soaring by 14% to £601m in the last six months of 2013. This, in turn, has boosted the ready-to-wear side of the business. Asia and the US are emerging as the markets where Dior does particularly well. Monday’s couture outing will only boost a house on the up.
According to Wu Chun,” The things that excite me this time is i am attending the Haute Couture collection fashion shows which is very much difference from the Ready-to-wear collection. Couture collection are all the limited edition pieces and i was amazed by all the creativities and workmanship of the highest level in the world of fashion.Of course, being alongside all the hollywood A-lists was a blast experience for me as well.”

Woohoo. I see Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson
Wu Chun at the Fashion week
Wu Chun posing for the camera
Quotes from Wu Chun – “”Its great to be back to Paris again, the city of ‘Fashion’ and feel honoured to be invited to Chanel, Christian Dior and Giorgio Armani Fashion shows during my 4 days trip. Its such a pleasure to wear the suit personally selected by My Giorgio Armani, a very down to earth icon who had his autograph on a baby Armani Suit for my 9 months old baby boy.”
“Today, fashion is really about sensuality-how a person feels on the inside. In the ’80s women used suits with exaggerated shoulders and waists to make a strong impression. Women are now more comfortable with themselves and their bodies-they no longer feel the need to hide behind their clothes. Fashion is not only about the clothes. Its about your body shape, your personality and the confident you have to express what you wear.”

It’s super big in Malaysia and now it’s made available in Brunei Darussalam. In Malaysia, there are almost 580 restaurants listed in Food Panda which is a mobile app and web-based for food ordering and delivery service provider. Now it’s good to see such a reputable company such as Food Panda to be in Brunei and it’s slowly making waves as the online orders are increasing day by day.
So far, Food Panda has partnered with 20 restaurants such as Ximply Chriz, Kitaro Japanese, Swensen’s, KFC and Burger King to name a few in Brunei. Last week, I conducted a special free voucher for my instagram followers to increase the awareness of Food Panda existence in Brunei and it worked. People were ordering and there was a huge spike in terms of orders from Food Panda and Burger King was the popular order among the lot.
Recently Claudio Abitante, the Managing Director of Foodpanda Brunei, was in the country to meet up with potential restaurants to be listed in Food panda. He believes that Food Panda will be as popular as in Malaysia because Bruneians love to eat.
For the moment, the delivery service is currently limited to residents of Brunei-Muara and hopefully it will extend to other districts after they finalized with the logistics. I have to say it’s not that easy especially for logistic purposes and currently, FoodPanda is utilizing TNT Brunei in providing the delivery service.
Two days ago, FoodPanda Brunei is now available on three platforms – IOS, Google Play and Window, and now you can order your favourite food from your smart phone. So do give it a try and you will amazed that to see food being delivered to your doorsteps.
Do mind the delays on some of the deliveries and FoodPanda Brunei is still finding ways to expedite the process for the convenience of the customers.
From time to time, FoodPanda Brunei will be running a few gimmick promotions and you will get some FREE vouchers from FoodPanda which you can use for your orders. You can also visit their website page – foodpanda.com.bn too. Happy hunting for food 😀
Now available on the tip of your fingers
Do download the app on your smartphone
Don’t forget to register yourself
Yay, I’m a registered user
So far, the delivery is within Bandar Seri Begawan
The good thing is that they have logs on your previous orders. So far, I have yet to make an order 😀
Some of the restaurants listed in FoodPanda Brunei
You can check out their website too
This is how the delivery man will carry – a FoodPanda bag in the near future

Dayat, Elizabeth, Eden, Maria, Joanna, Ruby, Bridget, Shian Li, Adi Farhan and Jeffery at the Brunei International Airport
Last year, there were three representatives. This year, Brunei are sending 9 participants and this shows that Bruneians have what it takes with their talents. Yesterday nine of them took off for the United States to represent Brunei in the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA). In other words, it’s the official “Talent Olympics” and it’s a good avenue to aspire more talents. This is a great opportunity for the participants to be exposed to the real competition and also compete against other performers around the world.
Last year, Fakhrul Razi made to the finals of WCOPA 2013 and bagged a few gold medals while Kevin Lo earned scholarships from the acting academy and notching a few gold medals whereas Maria Grace Koh earned silver medals from last year’s awards. The only one returning back to Hollywood is Maria while the rest are new to the competition.
Jeffrey Cadayong of Prismworks Event Management is confident that Brunei will bring in more medals and also earn more gold medals. The Brunei candidates have been working very hard and they had their final rehearsal at Expression Music before taking off for their adventure to Hollywood. I saw bits of pieces of Ruby Chong’s performance and I was super amazed already by this lady talent and I have seen her sing in public events.
Both sisters Eden Chiam and Shian Li Chiam are also selected for the USA trip who will performing vocal and instrument respectively in the junior category. They are the youngest of the lot. Elizabeth Sim and Joanna Kwan will be representing Brunei in the senior acting category. As for the senior vocal category, former champion of P2F Hidayat Hj Ahim, Ruby Chong, Bridget Ang and Md Adi Farhan will represent the country.
Will any of them reach the finals of the WCOPA like Fakhrul Razi did? I do have faith in them and they will make more waves this time round. Last year, Brunei won the “Spirit Award” and also the winning viral photo which happened to be my photo on social media.
Good luck to all the participants and do keep us posted. Too bad this year I won’t be joining them to the States. Maybe next year when the time is right. Do follow their updates on instagram @officialwcopabrunei

Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Mohammad Yasmin Haji Umar, Dato Matsatejo Sokiaw, CEO of PetroleumBRUNEI and Yves Grosjean, General Manager of Total E&P Borneo B.V
A launching ceremony for the Maharaja Lela South (MLS) project was held at the Muara Fabrication Yard in Kampung Serasa. Attended by the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Mohammad Yasmin Haji Umar, also there were Mr Nguyen Truong Giang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam, Dato Paduka Awang Hj Jamain Bin Haji Julaihi, Permanent Secretary (Downstream & Power), Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, Puan Hjh Rosmawatty binti Hj Abd Mumin, Permanent Secretary (Upstream) , Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office and Dato Matsatejo Sokiaw, CEO of PetroleumBRUNEI.
The MLS project, which is part of the exploration Block B, is located 50 kilometres northeast from Brunei coastline, and costs around US$1.4 billion ($1.74 billion).
In his speech, the Minister of Energy said “The MLS Project will amongst others, extend Block B’s production life to beyond 2025, while increasing current daily production from 30,000 barrel of oil equivalent to around 40,000 boe.”
According to Yves Grosjean, General Manager of Total E&P Borneo B.V, “Starting early 2016, the Project will produce the new gas and condensate resources discovered by exploration wells ML-5 and ML-6 drilled in 2010. These two wells were the deepest ever drilled in Brunei and the reservoirs to be produced are high pressure/high temperature. With the new wells from ML South it is anticipated that field production will be sustained at the new plateau level of 5Mm3/d beyond 2025, with the contribution of identified upsides. This new production level represents an increase of 35% compared to the production rate under the initial gas sales contract to BLNG that expired in 2013 and has now been renewed until 2033.”
The MLS Project is the largest joint venture in the block, spearheaded by Total E&P Borneo B.V. with Petroleum Brunei and Shell Deepwater Borneo among the shareholders.

I only dropped by last Saturday just to check out the “Revelation of Muslim Clothing” exhibition. I believe it was a great success and it was great to see big names from Malaysia showcasing their products to the Brunei market and yes, there is such a demand for these products that they offer. The exhibition also had special talks on Aurat and Muslim clothing with the title “Aurat oh Aurat, I Cover Up for Allah SWT”. You will be surprised that there are many things we assume that what covering Aurat is and there are many things to learn about Aurat itself.
The Revelation of Muslim Clothing event also comprises of an area for ‘Used & Wearable Clothing’ as well as Hijabs, Baju Kurungs, Baju Melayu, Jubah, shoes, shirts and pants which is free of charge for the public, as well as 100 over Ramadhan goodies.
One of the names that caught my eye was Miss Nina whom I made acquaintance during her days in Teh Tarik Crew and they did perform once in Brunei Darussalam. I doubt she remembered me *lol* and now she’s doing quite well with her fashion label Mizz Demeanor and Madeena Clothing (a Muslimah fashion label). Another famous designer from Malaysia is Calvin Thoo who was recently in Brunei as well for the showcase.
Check out some of the pictures below. Some of the images taken from @feekscada @madeenamy instagram and images courtesy of Aziz Idris and Syazwani Rosli of Borneo Bulletin.

It’s been a while since I attended this show hosted by Elizabeth Sim who’s the lady behind the monthly show “Timeout with Liz”. She has hosted a couple of talk shows to give more exposure to the Brunei on our local talents in arts, music, food and many more. It’s never been an easy journey of Elizabeth as she has to find the right partners to make her show a success. I applaud her for her resilience to continue her show.
Currently I like the set up at Kaleidoscope which Liz has ran a few shows there. I actually enjoyed the set up at Kaleidoscope. So hoping it will be kinda of a permanent spot for Liz’ shows in the near future. Last week, we had the privilege to catch local talents – Siti Kamaluddin (Origin Films), Liyana Yus and Nadiah Wahid (stars of Yasmine), Ben Sia a pastry chef who gained experience from watching Youtube and Ruby Chong, an awesome vocalist who will be performing in Hollywood for WCOPA.
Below are some of the pictures from the previous event. I kinda enjoyed but sorry for leaving pretty early since I have Transformers 4 movie to catch.
