Dilys Chai and Denise Chai, co-owners of Rack & Brew
One word: Impressive. Congratulations to Dilys Chai and Denise Chai on the opening of your new cafe, Rack & Brew. Love the deco, love the atmosphere and most of all, love the food too. The cakes are amazing too – my personal favourite is the Red Velvet Cake.
The cafe is located above Paddington House of Pancake (Gadong) and the area used to be a boutique store (Deseo) and now the boutique store is located on the 2nd floor, just above Rack & Brew. You can follow @rackandbrew on instagram for updates.
According to Borneo Bulletin, Dilys Chai revealed that Rack & Brew was part of her dissertation project back in the UK. Dilys had some sampling of her desserts at Hua Ho Manggis Mall and the responses were pretty good.
Rack & Brew operates from 11am to 10pm daily at Abdul Razak Complex in Gadong. I’m definitely dining there next time.

Coming soon near you. Recognise the logo?
I have been out of the local news for quite some time and recently I’ve been catching up with what I’ve been missing since my 10 days of hiatus from the Brunei scene. It seems there are many things happening though I claimed that it’s gonna be a slow month. This month of May is swamped with events and more food reviews. BHC Magazine will be turning 3 years now and there will be a huge event known as the KL International Hijab event at ICC starting Friday. I’m also excited about the new car which will be unveiled to the press from Ssyangyong which is a compact SUV Tivoli.
Rebranding
I always like when a corporate company goes to a rebranding process. Past two years, it was been Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) where the national carrier gradually change their overall look and appeal, bring a new level of hospitality as well as replacing some older planes with the Dreamliner 787. The same goes to another local Telco in Brunei formerly known as b•mobile communications. With the new name Progresif Cellular, they have been taking Brunei by storm in recent weeks with their aggressive marketing campaign.
Last weekend, Progresif Cellular opened up their new flagship store at Tanjung Bunut which was unveiled by the Minister of Communications. The Telco revealed their new logo and colour brand to have a refreshing appeal to the eyes of the public. Progresif Cellular have been gaining traction after announcing amazing offers such as FREE annual fee forever (now that’s a first) and now they introduce their handset and credit deals with Vivo and Huawei phones. I have strong believe that Progresif Cellular is heading the right direction and listening to the needs of the customers. Just don’t expect all the miracles at one time. They are indeed progressing step by step rather than not progressing at all.
Thumbs up to the stakeholders and the decision makers on Progresif Cecullar’s direction. You have certainly had me sold. Time to invest in a secondary smart phone.

Donations pouring
One thing great about our community, we have a sense of contribution especially when there are mishaps locally and internationally. We all are very familiar with the recent earthquake at Nepal which has taken thousands of lives and the country is still in mourning and in shock of the catastrophe. Many NGOs and individuals have taken steps to raise funds and also donating necessary items for the victims of the Nepal earthquake.
Last Monday, Raddison Hotel and Fitness Zone joined forces to donate items and handed over the donations to a representative from Nepal, James Shakya who is the manager of the Gurkha Palace Restaurant and Catering. He was overwhelmed with the kindness from the local community and they have managed to raise more than 10,000 kg of aid. As for now, they are in need more of medical aid and supplies. Those who can assist in this matter, you can donate to Fitness Zone.

KLIHF this weekend
KLIHF stands for Kuala Lumpur International Hijab Fair and it’s happening this weekend starting Friday. This will be the second event of its kind and it is being dubbed the biggest Muslimah Fashion Trade Fair and it will make its way at ICC. So what can you expect? It will feature more than a hundred booths from various countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and Turkey, will gather local and international designers, brands, retailers and wholesalers, including textile, fabric and accessories suppliers related to Muslimah fashion.
There will be popular Malaysian Muslimah fashion brands such as Mona Din of Hajaba, Farrah Adeeba of Najjah and Madeena by Mizz Nina. I hope to see Nina as I knew her personally from the days of Teh Tarik Crew. I shall be updating more stories on this event pretty soon.

I didn’t take much photos at Bali since I didn’t go to many places of interests in Bali. Most of the time, I was staying at Ubud area which is quite remote from the popular cities of Kuta and Seminyak. Nonetheless, I had a great time bonding with my friends from all over the world at Ubud and learnt a thing or two that me aware of in the past week or so. Hence, why I am so inspired by David the Nomadic Lion who inspires others with his vision to spread humanitarian by means of walking and exchanging stories and cultures. He represents abundance and I am inspire to feel as abundant as him one day.
I shall be returning to Bali next year and my friends and I are already eyeing Lombok (a few hours away drive from Bali) which my friends recommended to visit and even David. Have a great weekend, peeps!!

The British High Commissioner hosted a Civil Society and Chevening Alumni Roundtable discussion and networking event yesterday evening at the Residence. The aim of the event was to bring together civil society organisations and Chevening Alumni to network, share best practice, find synergies and identify opportunities for collaboration.
British High Commissioner H.E. David Campbell said “It was fascinating to hear from such a diverse range of organisations, all making a real contribution to Bruneian society and environment. Many were now planning their projects for 2015 which we will follow with close interest. It was good to have the perspective of our Chevening scholars too.”
Civil Society Organisations present covered a wide range of issues in Brunei from the environment (Green Brunei, Green Apeel), to wildlife (1stopbrunei Wildlife, CAS) to social welfare (SCOT, the Women’s Council, MKM, BASMIDA, Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council). Also present were representatives from Standard Chartered Bank who gave a brief overview of the work they do in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The launch earlier today at The Energy Kitchen
The Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Sari Setia Awang Hj Adanan with Wu Chun, the founder of The Energy Kitchen blending some healthy drinks
Superstar Wu Chun has been busy himself, flying here and there, and this afternoon, he is back in Brunei Darussalam to launch his very own healthy restaurant Energy Kitchen. Today it was launched with the grace of the honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Sari Setia Awang Hj Adanan, the Minister of Health, who is also a very conscious when it comes to food.
Today 31st October, The Energy Kitchen celebrated its grand opening and this is a great way to educate the public on the presence of healthy food and let’s hope with the power of the media (RTB, newsprint and blog), we can carry the message across and promote healthy food. It won’t be an easy task but it has to start somewhere indeed.
According to Wu Chun, the founder of The Energy Kitchen, this is the first truly healthy restaurant in Brunei and their mission is to show Brunei that a healthy meal which is good for your body, can also be simple, innovative and tasty too. He encourages the local to join the Eat Smart Revolution. He is happy with the help of the Health Promotion Centre (HPC) which helps to promote healthy eating in Brunei. HPC has already started the initiative in providing a healthy lifestyle option when it comes to food. The tools are out there but we just need to choose a healthier option and it’s also up to the individuals.
Wu Chun has been grateful that the response has been encouraging ever since the soft launch a few months ago as the locals are beginning to be aware of eating healthier food.
The Minister of Health praised Wu Chun and his team on opening the restaurant which is line with the Ministry’s vision for a healthier lifestyle in Brunei Darussalam. He believes such presence can slowly educate the public and this will have a long term effect where it will reduce Non Communicable Diseases in the country.
From today until Sunday 2nd November, you can enjoy free dessert for every main meal ordered, there will be colouring activities and balloons for kids. You can also stand a chance to win gift certificates and REAL FOOD t-shirts exclusively designed by Wu Chun at The Energy Kitchen. You can also follow their updates on instagram @theenergykitchen
For reservation, you can call 223 3323.

Test driving the Citroën DS3 and DS4: What a wonderful experience indeed!! My first try out was the DS3 and don’t be fooled by the size because this car was such a joyride during my four day trial. The design itself makes a sporty, futuristic presence and it lives up to the performance. This is comparable with the Mini Cooper in terms of size but the DS3 is much more of a affordable car.
I was slightly concern if space would be a factor in the driving seat but it was pretty accommodating for me. Well, I know I might have gain a few pounds or so but it was almost perfect for my driving experience. The only fuss I had when sitting was pulling the seat belt over as I struggle using my left for the reach *lol*
I love the handling of the car as well especially during turns and roundabouts. It just made me think twice about letting go of my current car too. You will be surprised how efficient and well handled the DS3 is.
The DS3 sports a 1.6 litre four-cyclinder engine with a four-speed transmission and for me, it’s more than good enough since I’m not much of a fast driver. It will be a huge transformation if I was to convert to a mini car, coming from an SUV lover but I wouldn’t mind a secondary car for leisure and comfort just like the DS3.
My affair with the Citroën DS3
It was such a comfort ride with the Citroën DS3
I was torn between the Citroën DS3 and the Citroën DS4. Of course, the DS4 is definitely bigger and it has a more robust, fluid built with sharper lines and subtle curves. Brunei has just introduced these models in the market last year and slowly the public is noticing its strength and uniqueness as most of us are already familiar with other European brands in the market.
The interior is spacious and I love the interior finishing which is more refined and more attention to details. I was amazed that they have a massage chair option for the delight of the driver and passenger but I wasn’t too focused on that option. Just to let you know that you could fully recline the chair and switch it to massage mode 😀
I kinda like the neon-blue effect on the display on the speedometer and fuel indicator. I haven’t fully tested in terms of its speed but man, the DS4 can be an excellent ride along the highways especially if you commute back and forth from KB to Bandar. Sometimes I don’t even realise I’m driving over the speed limit because the ride was simply smooth.
In all, the DS4 packs a punch and I would highly recommend you to check out this model at Times Square this weekend. Even the price range is quite affordable for the specs that the DS4 boasts.
In comparison, both the Citroën DS3 and DS4 have their own strengths and it depends on what purpose you want to use the car for. What sold me about the DS4 is the bluetooth audio device which is not available for the DS3 since I listen to my music and podcasts while on the road.
Another great edition from Citroën the DS4

Late post: Below are some of the pictures taken during my recent trip to Singapore for the Singapore Toy Games Comic Convention 2014 which took place at the Sands Expo & Convention, Marina Bay Sands. It was another fun-packed event though I could see a drop in Marvel presence apart from the popular hit Guardians of the Galaxy. I almost bought a collectible which was a mini figurine of Transformers Megatron and I regretted that decision of not purchasing it.
This year, @delgoh and I were supposed to dress up for the occasion in our alter egos but that didn’t materialise in the end. Most likely, it will be an assurance that both of us will be cosplaying 😀 However, we might need to find an assistant or a chaperon to help us carry our stuff *lol*
Enjoy the first batch of pictures and I wished I stayed longer to take more pictures of cosplay people.

Dk Nur Farhanah said she was selected out of 30 applicants for the PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Programme.
“We were told that about 30 students had applied and 12 were shortlisted to undergo written examinations and interviews,” said the 18-year-old who will be studying Petroleum Geoscience.
The recipient said she could apply for work at other places once she finished her studies, as she is not bonded under the programme and due to the possibility of no job vacancies at the company.
Another recipient, Nur Fatin, said PETRONAS would allow her to work at other companies if there are no job openings.
“At the university, they have sponsors like Halliburton Co,” said the scholar who will be studying Petroleum Engineering.
She hoped to apply for industrial attachment at the company during the summer holidays.
PETRONAS country manager, Ahmad Faisal Bakar, said Bruneians made up 62 per cent of the total 45 staff working at the company.
“The pool of staff at PCBL has grown from a modest 27 in 2011 to 45 staff today. Out of this number, 28 staff are Bruneians,” he said.
The country manager added that the sponsorship programme received an 80 per cent increase in applications from Bruneian students.
Witnessing the signing ceremony between the recipients and PETRONAS Carigali Brunei Ltd yesterday were Permanent Secretary (Upstream) of the Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office Hjh Rosmawatty Hj Abdul Mumin and Managing Director of PetroleumBRUNEI Dato Paduka Matsatejo Sokiaw.

Late post: This was another Startup Founder 101 activity that took place late August at The Knowledge Hub. It was such a great turn out probably because they were treated to two charming speakers – Keeran Janin of #CHRENDS and Hamdi Metussin (NJ), Creative Director of Mixmediaworx. The event was organised by Tru Synergy who are championing to charter the Founder Institute in Brunei. The Founder Institute is the world’s largest training and startup launch program which helps aspiring founders across the globe to build enduring technology companies.
This program has been successful where Tru Synergy have created numerous forums and dialogues by inviting founders and speakers to share their experiences and their journey so the audience can benefit from the discussions.
Both lads gave an insightful presentation and I was more intrigued by NJ’s delivery because we hardly take into account the design of business or logo or marketing material. We just take for granted that “designs” are secondary and they don’t matter much. To me, design in an integral part of your brand and it’s always vital to invest in design if not your branding.
I look forward to more forums and dialogues hosted by Tru Synergy.
It was good to see such young enthusiastic students in attendance

Abd Latif bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Md Yusof, the guest of honour with Dato Dr Isham Jaafar, the Executive and Medical Director of JPMC, Dr. Burc Bassa, Deputy Head and Head Consultant of the Brunei Neuroscience Rehabilitation Centre (BNSRC) and Vivian Suk Kee Tie, the Head of Rehabilitation Department of JPMC with the management and the stroke and cancer patients of Jerudong Park Medical Centre. Click image to enlarge.
With Hari Raya around the corner, every walk of life can enjoy a festive season whether be it small or big. Sometimes we take things for granted that Hari Raya or in this case, pre-Hari Raya is just an excuse for the spirit of celebration and unity. But little do I know that even the smallest of celebration can bring the warmth and joyful feeling to others and I felt that yesterday during my visit at Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC).
My coverage was on JPMC’s Rehabilitation programme organised by JPMC’s Rehabilitation Department and after the 5-week programme, the patients were awarded with certificates of achievements and judging from the explanations by the occupational therapists, these aren’t easy feats. Stroke patients are bound to lose some of their movements or lose their ability to fee touch, pain or position. Hence the therapists come into the picture and educate and train the patients to regain back some of their body movements as well as coordination.
Apart from the presentation of certification, JPMC organised a short “ceramah” session for the invited guests and JPMC stroke and cancer patients. It was conducted by Ustaz Haji Haslan bin Hj Shabudin from the Isalamic Da’wah Center, Ministry of Religious Affairs and he was kinda of entertaining too and brought some laughter to the audience. He shared about the essence of fasting during Ramadhan and added some general info that we normally take for granted that we know all. It was a pretty interesting session indeed.
The guest of honour of the event was Abd Latif bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Md Yusof, a member from Board of Directors of Jerudong Park Medical Centre. Also present were Dato Dr Isham Jaafar, the Executive and Medical Director of JPMC, Dr. Burc Bassa, Deputy Head and Head Consultant of the Brunei Neuroscience Rehabilitation Centre (BNSRC) and Vivian Suk Kee Tie, the Head of Rehabilitation Department of JPMC.
After the “ceramah”, Vivian shared a brief description on the Therapeutic Group Activity (TGA) and she was pleased to share that the 5-week program was a major success as the patients had improved ability to converse and sing and a progress in regaining their strengths, stamina and physical functions. She also thanked family members of the patients who contributed in the program by providing emotional and social support. I believe this is the most challenging aspect for stroke and cancer patients as they need consistent moral support.
The JPMC patients then performed a Selawat and Nasyid for the invited guests and it was heart warming to see them performing and feeling cheerful with the Raya spirit in them. According to Vivian, having a collective group of stroke patients singing together is challenging in terms of synchronizing with the music because stroke can also affect their speech. However, the task is not impossible and not many hospital in other countries practice this approach and I applaud the rehab team and the patients to show that this is achievable and it takes practice.

The guests also witnessed the patients conduct demonstrations of their activities such as baking Hari Raya treats and building the replica of Kampong Ayer, which is made out of furnished wooden sticks. Kampong Ayer is one of the main tourist attractions in the Sultanate.
Since the year 2012, the Rehabilitation Department has been putting together intensive Therapeutic Group Activity Programs during the month of Ramadhan in preparation for the upcoming Hari Raya festivities and at year’s end in celebration of the holiday season. The Therapeutic Group Activity Program gives patients a goal to achieve in duration of five weeks and help the patients relearn skills that are lost when part of the brain is impaired. The patients together with their family members are taught new ways of performing tasks to compensate for any residual disabilities.
Among other activities conducted last year was the beautiful replica of the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque built by the patients, which is currently displayed outside Outpatient Department. It’s really good to see JPMC creating such activities and these provide patients with a sense of belonging while improving their health and body condition.
Rehabilitation Department offers treatments available that includes Falls Prevention, Geriatric and Pediatric Rehabilitation, Back and Neck Pain, Stroke and Spinal Cord Injury, Orthopedics and Sports Injury. For more information, please visit their website at www.jpmc.cm.bn.

A great achievement for the patients of JPMC and I’m glad there was a token of appreciation

What’s happening to our export on Crude Oil?
Well, it’s just my opinion and thoughts based on the information given, so don’t shoot the messenger :p One could be that the demand may not be as high as before and other parties could have chosen other suppliers. The other reason could be that Brunei might not be producing enough crude oil. Then again, I could be wrong as these are just assumptions based on the limited information given by JPKE.
Whatever it is, it’s not a good sign for Brunei if it exports on crude oil maintain the same as now or even lower on the next shipment. It’s about time we need to find other source of revenue and income to our economy.

Will Brunei retain the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy this August? Image courtesy of The Brunei Times.
Perhaps the highlight earlier this year was when the management were conducting trials for the Brunei U-21 team back in January as they were preparing for the supposedly tournament earlier in April 2014. The plan didn’t materialised in terms of hosting the event in April and it was postponed till further notice. However, this is still great news because this will give ample time for Brunei to prepare for the HBT tournament. They were already many question marks as why the trials were only planned three months before the actual tournament then as it’s never easy to gel new players in the time span given. I’m not pretty sure how the preparations have been since beginning of the year but I’m sure that manager Hj Feisal Hj Eusoff and coach Kwon Oh-Son have sorted this out.
Last weekend was the draw for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2014 and Brunei is now placed in Group B with the likes of Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. In Group A are Timor-Leste, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand. The only one missing here is Indonesia as they won’t be able to compete due to the clashes with the ongoing Indonesian football league.
Well, I still find that a bit odd since Indonesia has a population of 200 million and yet they can’t field a squad of 24 to represent Indonesia U-21. I kinda find that reason to be … ah, no comment. For your info, Indonesia was runner-up in the previous tournament and it was a very heated match, not for the players on the field but for the supporters out there as there were commotions happening prior to the match and during the match. Sometimes when you are too passionate about your country and the ego get the better of you, things are easier to escalate to an uglier scene.
As for a vote of uncertainty, team manager Hj Feisal Hj Eusoff shared that Brunei is not ready for next month’s 5th Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy as he said they are far from being prepared for the August 9-23 regional Under-21 tournament. He said that the players’ are not at the level they should be and further more, they haven’t selected their first eleven, let alone choosing the final 18 squad.
I believe there is still hope for Brunei. They did it two years ago with great difficulty and yet they prevail. Brunei is the defending champion and I believe they can excel to greater heights.
The manager conveyed his thanks to DPMM FC for allowing to use some of their players – Adi Said, Najib and Hendra and also thanked National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) for their never ending support and also to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
I shall update you the progress of the Brunei U-21 team. For now, good luck for the preparations.

Wu Chun with Giorgio Armani at Fashion Week in France
As glamorous haute couture creations takes the runway in paris, media from around the globe gather at Paris for the pre-fall and winter collection Fashion Week in the months of July. Not only that, fashion enthusiasts from around the world fly in to Paris during this month to enjoy the great summer sales and at the same time, trying to get a glimpse of all the world renowned designers and celebrities at all the famous museum which are used as the venue for most of the fashion show for the top designers in the fashion industry.
Wu Chun who has been recognised as a fashion figure in the showbiz partly because of his well-built physical appearance has a close relationship with some of the top fashion designer brands in the world and has attended numerous fashion shows or invited as the spokesperson for the opening ceremony for the designer stores.
Christian Dior’s couture show in Paris on Monday was the fashion equivalent of a concept album. The show was held at Musée Rodin’s gardens in a circular tent decorated with thousands of white orchids and displayed the latest confections by Belgian designer Raf Simons.
Extended over six segments, models dressed in everything from full-skirted ballgowns to full-length fur coats, chiffon slips and embroidered parachute silk boilersuits walked around a circular white room wrapped in chrome and covered – floor to ceiling – in white orchids. It even had a soundtrack of alpha experimentalists Sonic Youth.
This year, Wu Chun was invited to experience the Fashion week in Paris where he had the chance to sit in the front row with some of the top celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence who fame has shot up during the last few years with her blockbuster hit, The Hunger game. Wu Chun was also joined by the Harry Potter female lead actress, Emma Watson,Charlize Theron and Sean Penn at the Christian Dior Fashion Show. Put together, it was a dizzying expression of creative director Raf Simons’ vision for this revered Parisian house: futuristic, red carpet friendly and art-house all at once.
In the show notes, Simons said the Dior collection was about bringing “the attitude of contemporary reality to something very historical” and finding something modern as the result. This concept collection – assured, new but rich with varied reference – suggests he might have done just that.
The Simons effect at Dior sent couture sales soaring by 14% to £601m in the last six months of 2013. This, in turn, has boosted the ready-to-wear side of the business. Asia and the US are emerging as the markets where Dior does particularly well. Monday’s couture outing will only boost a house on the up.
According to Wu Chun,” The things that excite me this time is i am attending the Haute Couture collection fashion shows which is very much difference from the Ready-to-wear collection. Couture collection are all the limited edition pieces and i was amazed by all the creativities and workmanship of the highest level in the world of fashion.Of course, being alongside all the hollywood A-lists was a blast experience for me as well.”

Woohoo. I see Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson

Quotes from Wu Chun – “”Its great to be back to Paris again, the city of ‘Fashion’ and feel honoured to be invited to Chanel, Christian Dior and Giorgio Armani Fashion shows during my 4 days trip. Its such a pleasure to wear the suit personally selected by My Giorgio Armani, a very down to earth icon who had his autograph on a baby Armani Suit for my 9 months old baby boy.”
“Today, fashion is really about sensuality-how a person feels on the inside. In the ’80s women used suits with exaggerated shoulders and waists to make a strong impression. Women are now more comfortable with themselves and their bodies-they no longer feel the need to hide behind their clothes. Fashion is not only about the clothes. Its about your body shape, your personality and the confident you have to express what you wear.”

Late post: Ever heard of ZALORA? It’s a growing brand in Brunei though there’s no physical store that exists in Brunei because it’s an online brand. Do you know that ZALORA is increasing in growth in terms of sales from Brunei alone? Though it’s a small market compared to other regional countries but it is an important growing market said Luca Barberis, Director of ZALORA. He noticed the growth trend increased by 100% in the past few months and from there, the company believe that Brunei is an important market because many Bruneians buy Jovian Mandagie’s design wear for women.
The other reason why Bruneians love to shop at ZALORA because of the speedy delivery to their doorsteps. The items will be delivered within 3-4 days from Malaysia and you can even return the item should the dress or shoes you bought isn’t the correct size. Jovian Mandagie is known for their modern Baju Kurungs and Muslimah Dresses and the price ranges from RM 250.
Recently ZALORA made a showcase at The Empire Hotel & Country Club with the presence with the management and fashion icon celebrity Jovian Mandagie. The public had the opportunity to view the collection by Jovian Mandagie “Chantilly” which is inspired by the French city of Chantilly which is known for producing the finest lace.
The showcase was also an avenue for the newbies to get a feel of Jovian Mandagie products and they will be able to trust and appreciate the design and materials by Jovian Mandagie. So ladies, this is very ideal for upcoming Hari Raya and I have to say I’m impressed with the workmanship and the simplicity of the design and still looking elegant.
It was a honour also to meet the fashion designer himself, Jovian Mandagie, and I love his aura and charisma which makes him such an approachable celebrity. I also had interesting conversion with Giulio Xiloyannis, Managing Director of ZALORA Malaysia and Luca Barberis, Director of ZALORA Malaysia and Stacy Hui, PR Executive of ZALORA Malaysia.
Luca shared that many of their customers are surfing through mobile phones and making purchases from their devices. At least 30% of their customers buy ZALORA products online, either through ZALORA mobile site or ZALORA app. His team will further improve the user friendliness of their mobile based ZALORA to improve customer experience which will translate to more dollars and cents.
So do check out their website ZALORA and you can check the number of Jovian Mandagie’s dresses online and give it a shot or even download their mobile app on IOS and Android.

Hj Abu Bakar Hj Ibrahim, Chairman of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd (center) with Mozart Hj Ibrahim and Hjh Rena Azlina binti Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Aziz, directors of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd and Ang Han Kee, Head of Network Management & Planning, Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd at the press conference yesterday at Radisson Hotel
The past is the past. Now it’s about moving forward. You may have heard or seen in the news about the new developments that B-Mobile Communications Sdn Bhd was going through a few months ago. A new company under the name of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd will run the operations of B-Mobile Communications effective 1st July 2014. This would mean the name of B-Mobile won’t be used anymore and it will be known as Progresif Cellular from 1st of July 2014.
A press conference was held yesterday, led by the chairman of Progresif Cellular, Hj Abu Bakar Hj Ibrahim. Also present during the press conference were the board of directors of Progresif Cellular, Mozart Hj Ibrahim and Hjh Rena Azlina binti Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Aziz.
I believe the great news about the press conference is the assurance that B-Mobile will not ceased its operation. Instead the service will be sustained and the everyday operations will be under a new management of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd. Acquiring an existing telco company is never an easy feat as they have to deal with many issues and paperwork. So it’s no surprise that the acquisition process took many months before it can be a successful one.
Hj Abu Bakar highlighted three important points which are important as their core values in achieving their vision as the most innovative mobile service provider in Brunei Darussalam. The first point he stated is the “People” which means the customers and their employees. It’s important to understand the needs and wants of customers and at the same time, it is important to train and develop the associates of Progresif Cellular so they can meet the demands of the customers in the best and most efficient ways possible.
The second point he shared was improving the network. This is no surprise that the existing subscribers of B-Mobile are experiencing inconsistent connectivity. He reassured that this issue will be put on a priority list and they have put on many countless hours in examining the problems that have been affecting the current network. Hj Abu Bakar hinted that the improvements of the network will be done in a gradual pace (in phases) and not instantly. I believe this is a great move by Progresif Cellular as I’ve seen telcos which focused too much on new services and products but forgetting the fundamental basics which is sustaining a good network.
The third point Hj Abu Bakar pointed out is building their brand. To me, it’s always important to create and make an impact, just by branding because it has a lasting impact and impression on consumers and that’s every entrepreneurs’ dream – to have a strong brand. From what I heard from the chairman’s speech is that the Progresif Cellular is very customer oriented and it wants to position itself to bridge that connection with its customers. Though this will take time to achieve such synergy and branding awareness to their customers, this is already a positive move by the company.
When asked about the 4G services, the chairman’s reply was simple – improve the existing network before upgrading their services and products. I’m quite excited what Progresif Cellular will be offering in the coming months and this will give a good competitive edge to their rival and of course, the winner here will be the consumers.
I’m also touched and honoured that the media was able to mingle with the chairman and the board of directors of Progresif Cellular after the press conference and this shows the trust they have on us and it’s also a good reflection of their vision and mission to create that relationship with their customers. In Brunei, it’s quite rare that we have an informal conversation during refreshments with directors of an organization. So I thank you for that opportunity and I’m sensing better things to come from Progresif Cellular.
