Congratulations to my friends, Major Pengiran Mohammad Shamsul Reza bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Hj Tengah and Tara Abdullah Teo @ Tracey Teo Lee Ying on their wedding function last weekend. My friendship with Reza began during our student life in St. Andrewās School. We were big fans of figurines such as Mā¢Aā¢Sā¢K and He-Man to name a few. We kinda lost track after we headed off to different countries for future studies and I totally lost contact with him. So after two decades of knowing you, you are now a married man š All the best in your new chapter with Tara and may Allah bless your new journey.
Iām currently in Kuching with buddies from Brunei toastmasters (Brunei Speakersā Club, OTTERS and UBD Toastmasters) and we are all attending the 5th Annual District Convention. I shall be here until the weekend and I hope to learn something valuable from the trip apart from bonding with my friends. Itās good to be back in Kuching.

Wu Chun with team RB at Manukan Island yesterday
Beaches, islands and seafood. Those were the things that Wu Chun suggested to his fans if they were to pay Sabah a visit. The celebrity is no stranger to Kota Kinabalu and he frequents the city with his family.
Yesterday though was a different matter. He visited Manukan Island in the capacity for the meet-the-fan session and over two hundred fans showed up yesterday. Wu Chun had the opportunity to address his fans and also interact with some of them.
He also presented prizes to the winners of the sand castle competition. The fans mostly come from parts of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong who bought packages using Royal Brunei Airlines. For the record, Wu Chun is Royal Brunei Airlines Brand Ambassador and he is currently enjoying his journey as the Brand Ambassador and thankful towards Bruneiās national air carrier for their support.
The meet-the-fan session was organised by Sabah Tourism and Royal Brunei Airlines with collaboration with the Sutera Harbour Resort.
Wu Chun hinted that the next scheduled trip could be to Singapore and Hong Kong. I also would like to thank Royal Brunei Airlines for making my coverage of Wu Chun possible. Till next time, KK!

Wu Chun with some VIPs during the official launch of Centrepointās Burger King last night at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Wu Chun will also be Wu Chun. People always say how popular I am just because Iām a social blogger. But if you are an entertainer or a celebrity, itās a different ball game. I caught a flight through Royal Brunei to Kota Kinabalu and wow, the flight was packed with Wu Chunās fan. This is no surprise that Wu Chun is the Royal Brunei Airlines Brand Ambassador, able to draw fans from all around the world with his presence. If I was not mistaken, some of the passengers were Wu Chunās fans. Amazing!!
Anyway, my trip to Kota Kinabalu was by invitation to cover Wu Chunās event and one of them is the opening of the Burger King outlet at Centrepoint, Kota Kinabalu. He was one of the special guest to officiate the opening of Burger Kingās outlet at Centrepoint. To update you, the centrepoint outlet is owned by Brunei shareholders. Congratulations on the milestone and this is such a great opportunity to expand their business outside Brunei and furthermore, itās in KK market which is bigger than Brunei definitely.
As for Wu Chunās fans who came over for the opening night, wow, wow and wowā¦ I have never seen such a huge crowd and I remembered the crowd in Brunei for Wu Chunās movie Saving General Yang and that was already considered hectic. But last night at Burger Kingās opening, it was very tricky to handle the crowd. Perhaps there werenāt enough security available and even Burger Kingās staff had to help control the young crowd. I was surprised there were also male fans.
Before I end this post, thank you Royal Brunei for making this coverage possible and thank you Burger King for the hospitality.

The trek was organised by University of Sheffieldās Islamic Circle and she managed to raise Ā£643 for her cause as she needed at least Ā£150 to trek the mountain. The University of Sheffieldās Islamic Circle raised a total of Ā£8,279 in the end. Awesome!! Below are the pictures shared by Azeemah during their trekking journey at Mt. Snowdon.
Yesterday, Maju Motors, the authorised dealer for Volkswagen (VW), held a customerās day. Lots of Volkswagen customers showed up with their car and posed for the camera. There was also free BBQ food being provided and music for entertainment. This was one way of appreciating Volkswagen customers from Maju Motors for their continuous support. Movember Brunei this year will feature, for the first time ever in Brunei, a āMustacheā competition called The ShāMoā Down. The competition is divided into three categories; the Thickest Mo. the Hippest Mo and the Innovative Mo.
Currently there are a handful of āMoBrosā who have registered and it will be very interesting to see the quality of mustaches being āgroomedā seriously in Brunei. Itās a growing trend here as the men are slowly becoming more aware of how they present themselves in the public. Registration is still open and all you have to do is email your name and contact number to our email, movemberbrunei@gmail.com
This year we have the support of Chaps & Rebels, a local barber shop owned and run by our own local guys who have paved the way for those seeking the āgentlemanā look. An online entrepreneur who sells beard oils on instagram and goes by the ig account, @DreamBeardBWN. Armtirx enterprise who has agreed to print the limited edition MovemberBrunei Tees. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Brunei for agreeing to become our official venue for the ShāMoā Down.
Movember Brunei also has amazing support from the social media like Facebook and Instagram. The hashtag #movemberbn is getting new feeds everyday. Huge thanks to everyone and anyone on the social media platform who has repost, retweeted and shared all things related to Movember Brunei, Thank you very much!
Growing a mo in Movember is not just a fashion statement but the true message and responsibilty that comes with it. The āMoā represents the awareness. If someone asks why go through all the trouble of growing a Mo in November? One can say because we care! Its not a trait of a Man to share that they are ill/sick. However, the number of men affected by cancer is as many if not more than women. Movember does not just highlight testicular cancer or prostate cancer, it covers depression as well and menās health in general. Do it for the grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, sons, nephews and grandsons who have been fortunately survived or sadly, unfortunately, did not make it through.
If you believe that prevention is better than cure, then go get checked! Grow that mo because you care! We grow it because we want the future generation of men to be confident and be able to remove the stigma that men do not get or rarely get sick. Press release and images courtesy of Zul Fadly.

The collection pack for the much anticipated Royal Bruneiās The Great Race is happening next week. The responses have been very exceptional, considering that this is Royal Brunei Airlinesā first attempt in organising a run.
By the way, for those who wants to donate, please click through thisĀ DonationCard_BW.pdf to download the Donation Card and bring it during the Race Kit New Collection Dates.
āØOr if you appoint a representative to pick up on your behalf, pleas click through this THEGREATRACEAUTHORISELETTER.pdf and fill up the authorisation form for your representative to bring during the Race Kit New Collection Dates below.
āØHave a good week ahead and see you on the 17th & 18th October at Royal Brunei Recreational Club.
Loving this top from The Great Race. Maybe the t-shirt design for a run Iāve seen
The winner of each category will win a Canon EOS 70D
This competition has been growing in popularity and Iām glad that this has become a yearly event (a big thanks to Interhouse Company) for making this possible. This year, there will be something extra in terms of prizes. Yes, the usual prizes will definitely be there but there is a new catch. There is a Grand Prize category and the winner of this will have the bragging rights of attending a 9-day photo clinic in Japan. Awesome!!!
The great thing is that the eventual winners of the respective categories are not guaranteed the grand prize as the individual participant will be judged based on the all the three categories and judged as a whole. This is a great initiative for the participants to showcase their talent and you will never know if you will be the chosen one to represent Brunei in Japan.
I wonāt spare much insight on this competition as the rules and regulations are given below in this post. Good luck to you all.

Audi driving instructor Mr. Nicolaas Smit from South Africa explaining to the audience before the AUDE began
TCY Motors as the sole dealer/importer for Audi in Brunei launched its inaugural 3-day Audi Urban Driving Experience (AUDE) at the āPusing Lagiā car park in Jerudong Park two weekends ago. I was fortunate enough to experience the sessions and big thanks to TCY Motors for giving me the opportunity. It also gave me a new perspective about Audi cars especially those with quattro and also the technology that Audi has.
The exclusive event was a road and ātrackā based safety driving tutorial and vehicle product demonstration via dynamic exercises such as ABS Braking and Gymkhana or Slalom event. Road Drive featuring the recently launched Audi A3 Sedan is an extended vehicle test-drive highlighting the 5-mode Audi Drive Select vehicle setting feature which changes the vehicle driving behavior according to the type of driving conditions.
AUDEās aim is to educate Audi owners or drivers in general, by using physical “hands-on” tuition, primarily how to react in emergency maneuvers in the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) braking exercise.
Gymkhana or the Slalom exercise practices safe high speed handling, and helps demonstrate and educate the traction grip abilities of Audiās ‘trademark’ quattro four-wheel drive system compared to that of a vehicle without quattro. This was actually my favourite part of the entire session because you get to compete/race against one another for fun and yes, it was addictive.
An experienced Audi driving instructor Mr. Nicolaas Smit from South Africa together with Mr. Richard Sorenson from Audi Singapore were invited to plan and facilitate the dynamic driving exercises to ensure the highest safety standards are observed for the participants which mostly include Audi owners and invited guests only.
With involvement in the motor industry since 1999, Smit is also member of the Guild of South African Motoring Journalists and has hosted a motoring insert on the Lifestyle Show on SAFM since 2007.
The organizer intends to hold the AUDE annually in one form or the other to highlight the capabilities of Audi vehicles and as a treat for its loyal customers.
My best pick among the Audi brand is definitely the Audi A7 which has the quattro. Just simply awesome!!!
I love this session – Gymkhana or the Slalom exercise
I am amazed by the power of the Audi A7 which is equipped with quattro

Yes, the fair is only for two days and itās organised by Abacus Brunei and they have done a tremendous job in partnering with various airlines, National Tourist offices, hotels and of course, the biggest pie of all, the travel agents. This is always an important calendar especially for travelers even like myself and I managed to make three bookings this morning before the human traffic got higher.
It was definitely a crowded affair and Abacus Brunei have achieved their objective in stimulating the demand for travel with great packages offered by travel agents, airlines and hotels.
I could see that Mr. Dermot was pleased with what he saw earlier this morning and he thanked the organiser and the partners for making this event a possibility. He shared how the travel fair went far back as 2004 and this platform has proven to be a success in attracting the public to get special offers for their travels and vacation.
Of course, there is a lucky draw gimmick for passengers who booked their tickets during the travel fair. They can win attractive prizes such as return air tickets to London, Bali and Ho Chi Minh City (a route that will be added by 17th October) which are sponsored by Royal Brunei Airlines (RB), 1 return air ticket from Hong Kong to Beijing sponsored by Cathay Pacific and 1 return air ticket each to Bangkok and Krabi sponsored by Malaysia Airlines.
So drop down to the 11th Abacus Holiday Travel Fair, located at the Goldstone Ballroom, Centrepoint Hotel and tomorrowās the final day. And for a little plug, I chose to buy my ticket at Darussalam Holdings because of their great incentive of double Royal Skies Miles for every transaction you make during the travel fair. I believe you need to spend at least BND 300 to entitled for the double Royal Skies Miles. Awesome, right? Thank you, Darussalam Holdings for that special incentive. As you know, Iām just a newbie for Royal Skies but Iāve been accumulating tons of points ever since Day 1. My target is to reach Silver in a few monthsā time š

Itās always great to see retail shops bringing in genuine products and goods to Brunei and we need more of this. I remember buying my first Snapbacks cap back in the UK in 2006 and even until now the cap is still in good condition. Snapbacks have been very popular in the US and most baseball teams have their own prints of New Era Snapbacks versions and they were hot sellers, even to this present day.
So itās good to have a genuine store that sells New Era caps that comes in fitted, snapback and strapback version and they will be available at the first store in Brunei called The Cap City, located 2nd floor (arcade area) of The Mall, Gadong. The shop has been opened for a month or two and it has been receiving positive responses from the public and not many people especially the youngsters are aware of the existence of The Cap City. They will also Malaysiaās brand apparel – Negative Clothing.
The Cap City is a popular store in Kuala Lumpur and it is great that the owners are willing to set up its store in Brunei for the first time. You can check out their instagram @thecapcity which updates regularly on their stores in KL and Brunei and of course, the latest focus on their updates are on Bruneiās newly opened store The Cap City.
Today will be a special one because the Brunei store will be closed for today but it will opened its door at 8pm to 10pm tonight for a grand launch. There will be a special gimmick where customers will get a 20% discount on ALL their caps only for that two hour window tonight. Another awesome gimmick is that the first 20 customers will get A CAP for FREE. Yea, it did mentioned on their IG and poster that it was only for the 1st 10 customers but the owners from KL are kind enough to sponsor a few more items for the Brunei grand launch.
Also in the country is Nigel Sparks @nigelsparks the man behind The Cap City and he is here with @tristweiliang to give support for the grand launch for the Brunei store.
So pen this down on your calendar to check out the grand launch for The Cap City at The Mall, Gadong, tonight. For more updates, check out on their hashtag #thecapcity_brunei on instagram š

The rebranding happened. And the funny thing was I just received my first ever Royal Skies card from Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) which is quite unusual because Iām quite a frequent traveler myself and only weeks ago, I am officially a member of Royal Skies *lol*
Last Saturday, Royal Skies launched their rebranding program and invited elite Royal Skies members to attend the special occasion at the Indera Samudra Hall, The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
It was announced that there will be rewards and benefits such as instant flight redemptions, the ability to purchase tickets using cash and miles, availability of redemptions at participating Royal Skies partners.
Previously we wonāt be able to have instant flight redemptions until the passenger has completed his/her flight destination. Now we can instantly get flight redemptions.
Royal Skies also have revamped their membership cards and it comes in blue, silver and gold.
Elite Gold card members will benefit immediately from non-expiring of miles and complimentary Elite Gold status extension. It also said that eligibility to earn miles will shortly be extended to a wider variety of fare categories which will benefit Royal Skies members in all tiers.
The rebranding process also includes the transformation of Royal Skies Service Centre and new heritage uniform collection used by Commercial, Royal Skies and Ground staff.
In 2014, the national flag carrier received distinction in the 2014 REBRAND 100 Global Awards, which honour the most successful brand transformations worldwide. The gala event saw the presentation of awards to a number of Royal Skies loyal elite members namely in Best High Flyer Award, Best Elite Newcomer, Best Junior Elite Traveller and Best International High Flyer Award.
Present as the guest of honour was the Minister of Communications Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

Curiousity still killed the cat
I finally made use of my Royal Skies and earning points for my travels. I should have done five years ago when Iām starting to frequently fly here and there. I was told that the Dreamliner for Royal Brunei will go to Singapore on Friday and Sunday afternoons.
The Brunei national netball team were also on the same flight as they will be competing in the Asian Netball Championship in Singapore. Good luck!!
This competition looks interesting and letās see how our Brunei team will do.
The most talked about run in my instagram because of its novelty. Itās happening in Singapore on 1st November.
Caught up with Lily Chiam at Nanaās Cafe and they served awesome Maccha drinks and ice-cream
Delās a happy camper when he purchased the Sandcrawler Star Wars Lego. Costs a fortune too š
Staying at this hotel for the 2nd time and liking it so far
Doing my blog here and I feel more imaginative in this kind of setting
Something that cinemas in Brunei should do and Iām sure this will be a big hit š
Iām devastated that my Sam the Tennis Machine is damaged *boohoo* Iāve spent a fortune on it of the love of tennis and so eager to play but it didnāt turn out as expected. I bought the machine from a newly found friend Kenny Chea who is another passionate tennis player and he already gave me a good deal for the machine.
I believe the machine was mishandled at the cargo area (either in Singapore or Brunei) and this must have caused the components to be faulty. The wires were disconnected and the batteries fell out from the deck. Oh well.. Thatās partly me to blame for not double checking and making sure the box was probably handled with much care at the cargo area.
Now Iām back in Singapore and I brought the 22 kilo machine with me to be sent for repair. I wonder how much it will cost me but at this point of time, I just felt devastated. Itās like owning your first iMac but it just wonāt start at the first attempt.
My tennis buddies are already too eager to play with the machine so I apologize for the delay due to this misfortunate event. We will get a taste of āSamā but for now, let the humans do the work š
A month ago when I was testing out Sam the tennis machine and I was impressed. I bought the machine on the spot back in Singapore.
Fast forward a month later, itās back in Singapore and I never got the chance to even play with the machine. It seems so troublesome to bring this heavy machine back to Singapore and Iām glad I didnāt have to pay excess baggage but stillā¦.
The components inside were not in placed and this must have been resulted from a huge impact during handling of the box. Iām yet to find out the cost repair for this.
Another event that I just missed today is the UBD Convocation 2014 which just took place at 9am today at the Chancellor Hall. I will definitely cover but just that Iām currently not in Brunei at the moment. Itās the biggest calendar of the year for UBD and it is very special as well since His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam present the certificates to all the graduates of UBD. Awesome!!
A big shout out to Ruebin Chin, Nina Kifwari, Rebecca, Jordine, Winnie Sia, Ismah Ismail, Alicia, Nadia and a few more. Any of you who wants to contribute their selfies, you can email to ranoadidas gmail š Congratulations once again to all my friends. You have done our King and our country proud. Keep it up!!
