DPMM FC makes it three
The first eleven of DPMM FC
DPMM FC are on a roll. Even during Ramadhan, they were still able to perform to their best and that shows a lot about the mental strength and the physical aspect of DPMM FC players and being on the road for almost two weeks is not an easy feat for the players. It takes a lot of focus and being present and achieve their goal step-by-step. What more can you ask for and a big shout out to Steve Kean who slowly build up the team from Day 1 (pre-season training) and you can see how much they have improved immensely over the course of the period.
Last night DPMM FC made it history for winning a hat-trick of Singapore League Cup. Tanjong Pagar United FC were considered the underdogs as they were up against two-time champions then DPMM FC and furthermore, DPMM FC also have a psychological advantage as they beat Tanjong Pagar 4-0 back in May at Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium in the S•League matches.
However, last night was a different matter as it was a winner-takes-it-all match. I knew DPMM FC will have the edge due to their experience factor and their on-going momentum heading into the finals. DPMM FC were on the verge of defeat as their semi-final match was stretched to a penalty shoot-out but Wardun Yussof became the hero with two crucial saves.
In the final match, DPMM FC opened the scoring through a Boris header off a corner in the 35th minute. Tanjong Pagar United FC did have their chances but were wasteful upfront. After the break, Adi Said who deputized for the suspended Rodrigo Tosi made it 2-0 for DPMM FC in the 47th minute. Tanjong Pagar have themselves to blame for not converting their chances and it could be the nerves that got the better of them.
Kudos to the DPMM FC players and also the management and the people involved in guiding the club to greater heights. Let’s not forget the 12th man of DPMM FC and that is the fans of DPMM FC. They do make a difference in bringing up the morale of the players and thank you for believing in them too.
DPMM FC will be touching down later today in the afternoon at 2:15pm and you all are more than welcome to greet them at the Brunei International Airport later and celebrate their success. Images taken by Alson Ong of S•League

Sundown 21km completed last Saturday
Sundown galore. This is my second attempt in 21km and I have to admit I wasn’t really prepared for the race. Firstly, my training sessions have been woeful to say that least. I hardly train and I only had like 3-5 sessions since February on my run. Bad, right? By the way, I was just 20 mins away from the cut-off time to earn my 21km finisher medal. Phew!!!
Perhaps I was focusing more on tennis and swimming lately in the final month before Sundown which exactly doesn’t do much for my 21km but maybe more into swimming since it improves my fitness slightly.
My timing wasn’t that great either and I had the same mentality as last year which is to complete the 21km. The first 4 kilometer was great because I was on my actual pace 7.15km/hr until I hit the 5km mark and things started to slow down. My pacer Alice was already far ahead of me after the 3km mark. She finished an hour earlier from me and she’s a great runner but she hardly trained.
Between 8km to 17km, I was power walking because of the cramps that I had to endure and the worst was yet to come when I had blisters on my left foot which made running difficult. The final 3km of the route, I managed to jog and increase my pace. I believe it was the hot, cooling cream that I applied after the 17km mark and it helped the cramps to slowly subside.
My friends finished earlier than me too. Well done to Zuraidah for finishing her first ever 21km and she said that it will be first and final registered 21km race *lol* I’m proud of my sister Muji for completing her first ever full marathon 42km. I know this is one of my bucket list but if this is to happen for me, I will have to seriously train myself seriously.
The Sundown Marathon Singapore was another great experience. However, the overall feel and minor things (of logistics) of the event was slightly a let down. I wasn’t happy with the drinking station for a start and some of the routes are dangerous for running as I saw a lady trip due to the uneven path and good luck she didn’t bleed on her face as it scratched on the cement path.
Thank you Sundown Singapore for another experience. Next year again? Probably yes..
Alice, myself, Muji, Zahrin and Badee at the Sundown last Saturday. Only Alice and I ran the half marathon while the rest ran 42km. Well done 😀

Don’t forget tonight’s match between DPMM FC vs Albirex Niigata FC at Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium
Steve Kean has turned the club around after a dismal outing last season under Vjeran Simunic. Kean shared that their opponents tonight, Albirex is a very technical side, more into possession and control as they are the team that passes the most in the league. He urges his players to be step up in this match or this could be a major slip up despite the 7 point lead.

Okay, it has been a while since I posted some personal thoughts on my blog and sorry, if my blog have been lacking substance (and some feel) over the last few days or so or even weeks. I just came back from my recent trips from Seoul (amaaaazzing) and Singapore for work and leisure. It has been a very busy month so far and I haven’t really spend time in taking care of myself in terms of rest. Yesterday I had a great afternoon nap just to recover this aging body of mine *lol* Yes, I ain’t getting younger any more and the big question mark has been (especially from my mom) – “When I’m gonna get married?” I only responded in silence 😀
Just to recap on my recent trips. Firstly, I was just from Seoul two weeks ago for my first coverage of Harley-Davidson and it was also my first ever trip to Seoul, Korea. Awesome city and I am definitely coming back to Seoul hopefully sometime again this year. A big shout out to Sri Sentosa Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Harley-Davidson in Brunei and thank you to the Asia Emerging Markets of Harley-Davidson for choosing me to represent the social media from Brunei Darussalam. I had the privilege to meet other social medias from different countries and of course, to visit the Harley-Davidson of Korea HQ which has such an incredible facility.
As for Seoul, it was really worth the trip and I was fortunate enough to be hosted at Ritz-Carlton Seoul and it has one of the best services I’ve ever experienced. A big thanks to Alison, the exchange student from UBD, who is currently in Seoul until June and she thought me some tips and guidance and things to do in Seoul. I have to say even 5 days ain’t enough to be in Seoul but I managed to make the most of it.
One place that I didn’t miss out was the Adidas store outlet at Myeondong which has the biggest store in Seoul if I’m not mistaken. The collections are different to that in Singapore but sadly, I couldn’t find any FX FLUX edition there. I’m gonna post some more pictures from my Seoul trip.
The Harley-Davidson of Korea where I had the privilege to cover the event of the Dark Custom event and also the sneaks of the Street 750
The Adidas store at Myeondong which has four floors
One of the gems that Alison introduced me to – a baseball drive pit and it only costs USD 1 for 20 hits and I was addicted to it and had another round
Now this is something interesting. A fresh octopus that after being sliced into pieces, the tentacles were still moving here and there. So it’s meant to be chewed until it stop moving.
Met new friends from Singapore – Yumiko, Shirley and Shalyn – who were in Seoul that time and they enjoyed the octopus experience 😀
Of all places, I bumped into one of my followers on instagram at the Myeondong Station and we chit chat for a bit. They were in Seoul for a holiday and trying out different places of interest. It’s good to know that we can be adventurous people too.
Now this is a whole new experience for cinema. Chairs vibrating, air mists blowing from seats, light strobes and many more. I watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and I kinda enjoyed the experience but maybe, just maybe it was too long for that experience alone.
This was my worn out map that help me during my Seoul adventure. People were asking me to download the app for directions but I opted for the conventional type.
Hello Anisah Han from the Brunei Embassy in Korea for the quick meet up two Sundays ago. Thank you for the hand book as well as your time to meet up
Some areas of Seoul can be very crowded

Such a beautiful atmosphere to see all the lanterns being lit
My Singapore trip is my 6th trip this year. This time, my trip is sponsored by Indera Motors Sdn Bhd, the official and sole agent of Jaguar and Land Rover (British Brand) in Brunei Darussalam and they invited myself, Hakim Hayat (Borneo Bulletin), Joana Tan (The Brunei Times) and Adibah (Bruneimotors) for the coverage on the recently launched Jaguar F-Type Coupé at the Red Dot Museum, Singapore. It was noted that Brunei will have be launching the Jaguar F-Type Coupé sometime in July or August 2014 and also in conjunction of their new showroom for Jaguar Land Rover.
The launch, last week, was pretty riveting to say the least. The overall atmosphere was just appropriate for such a prestigious luxury car. I love the fact Jaguar uses its DNA – innovation, Design and Performance – and Jaguar Singapore chose three of their iconic celebrities – Andre Chiang (chef), Eric Khoo (film producer) and Min Lee (violinist) as Jaguar brand friends. So perhaps, the Brunei launch will see a similar launch in a way as this is the requirement of Jaguar to have a similar set up and launching of Jaguar model. I do have to admit that the entrance while unveiling of the Jaguar F-Type Coupé made me feel some goosebumps. Amazing!! And a big shout out to Mercury Singapore for creating such a memorable event for Jaguar Singapore.
I shall be talking more of the specs of the Jaguar F-Type Coupé this week. All I can say now is that the car is super sexy. And so is the price 😀

Extended trip for Mother’s Day. Initially, I was scheduled to be back in Brunei from Singapore last Friday but extended to Monday so I could spend time with my mother on Mother’s Day in Singapore. I have never really organised or take my mom out for lunch or dinner to commemorate Mother’s Day so I thought why not now and she truly deserved this and it’s that level of gratitude that I do have for my mom who has been my influential role model ever since I was a teenager.
It wasn’t tough to arrange the flowers, cake and dinner but I was more worried about how my mom would take it since we hardly do any celebrations prior to this. The most I have given is a Mother’s Day card and that’s it. Funnily enough my mom thought that I won some big project or some sort since I wanted to treat her dinner with the rest of the entourage that followed my mom to Singapore. I believe it’s the gesture and the thoughts that count and my mom began to understand why we all did this in the first place.
The cake cutting scene was perhaps the highlight of them all. This was because I could see the level of happiness my mom was at and to me, that’s a priceless moment. Thank you, Mom, for everything, really. From the bottom of my heart, I love you and it was worth the extended trip to spend more time with you.

The coin-sized device is a smartphone camera remote that connects to your smartphone or tablets via Bluetooth 4.0 technology, and allows the user to take pictures from a distance of up to 30m away and with up to 8 devices at the same time.
This means a group of friends can now put their smartphones on a table or tripod, and pose for all their smartphones and tablets together without having to go through the hassle of taking turns to take pictures, or having to take a single shot at a time. Battery life can last up to 5 years. This also means that landscape or scenery shots with the user in the photos is now made possible without having to lug around a large camera or setting a timer.
The best thing about the device is how simple it is to use. The user only needs to download the free application “mFotoGem” from the Google Playstore or App Store, and once you turn on the application, it prompts you to pair your smartphones or tablets with the Foto Onyx device. Once paired, you can go ahead to take your photos easily, just by pressing the button on the top of the Foto Onyx device.

The launch of the Jaguar F-Type Coupé at Red Dot Museum in Singapore last week
Last week, I had the privilege to be witness the launch of Jaguar F-Type Coupé at the Red Dot Museum, Singapore and I would like to the thank Indera Motors for the special invite and flying me to Singapore for the exclusive coverage.
For your info, Indera Motors is the official and sole agent for Jaguar and Land Rover (British brand) in Brunei Darussalam and last year, they launched their showroom at Lambak Kanan Industrial area. This year, it will be an exciting year for Indera Motors as they will be unveiling a new showroom to showcase the British car brands and I shall keep you posted and updates on their progress.
In Brunei, the Jaguar XF seems to be the hot seller and the other models are just picking up pace and this shows that the locals are aware and appreciating the new version of the Jaguar flagship vehicles.
Last week, the much anticipated launch of Jaguar F-Type Coupé has brought many interests from Jaguar lovers and motor car fans worldwide and it made a special appearance at the SuperBowl commercial earlier this year and this shows Jaguar’s vision and brand positioning in the market and I actually find their campaign interesting with the hashtag #goodtobebad Do check out the commercial video below as it features popular British actors as the Jaguar brand friends.
Below are some of the snippets of the launch and also the much anticipated Jaguar F-Type Coupé pictures. I shall post more of the stories and images in my later post. Thank you once again to Indera Motors for giving me this opportunity.

There you go… I’m here again in Singapore for another assignment. I was just fresh from Seoul, Korea, for a special coverage on Harley-Davidson and it was a memorable experience for many reasons – riding a Harley, meeting celebrities from the region and most of all, being in Seoul for the first time *sakai* I will post my last batch of photos and coverage on H-D soon.
Yesterday I flew off to Singapore with the management of Indera Motors, dealership for Jaguar and Land Rover in Brunei Darussalam and representatives from the media and bloggers. My overseas assignment will be the coverage of the sneaks for Jaguar F-Type Coupe which will be unveiled later tonight in Singapore. Hence, the regional dealers in South East Asia will be present during the preview launch together with the local and international media.
So this is another great honour to be part of an international event and May has already been a super busy month for me. So thank you to Indera Motors for this wonderful opportunity and choosing and entrusting me for the coverage of the Jaguar F-Type in Singapore.
As time goes by, I’m beginning to learn new things in the automotive industry (Harley-Davidson and now Jaguar). So what’s next? Bring it on….
Below are pictures from yesterday’s outing. I won’t be posting much stories today. Enjoy 😀
Heading to Singapore again via @royalbruneiair and I ask myself, why haven’t I signed up for Royal Skies?? *fail*

YAM Pg Anak Ghaffar, General Manager of Indera Motors (2nd from left) with the management and the members of the media upon arrival at Changi Airport. This is my 7th touchdown in Singapore this year alone *likes*
One of the few hotels I’ve wanted to try but never got the chance was Marina Mandarin and Grand Park Orchard and finally, we were given the privilege to check in at the Grand Park Orchard. Awesome hotel and hands down, the best location for a hotel in the heart of Orchard
The first thing that caught my eye is the artwork in the room. I kinda like the room and I even fell asleep after lying down for a minute or two. I heard the room rate is around SG $300+ which is kinda worth it since it’s at the heart of Orchard. I won’t mind staying here actually.
It’s awesome that the hotel provides a smart phone for their patrons with unlimited local calls and international ones too. Not that I need one as I’m entrusted to my own personal one but this is a great facility offer by the hotel and this gets another plus point for me.
Last month, many Singaporeans were complaining about lack of rain and this time round, rain is getting common and there was a short burst of heavy rain in the afternoon yesterday.
Of all places, I bumped into an old friend Vinod at Minang House at Lucky Plaza and it was great catching up and sharing experiences
The food is always great here at Minang House. Even after lunch hours, the queue is pretty long.
My first attempt of Cold Stone and I prefer the Baskin & Robbins anytime. I do actually love how they prepare the ice-cream.
I thought they have completed the renovation but they are on it again at Royal Plaza on Scotts. I shall be staying here after my stay at Grand Park Orchard

It’s great to be back again but not dreading for work. I have countless piles of work pending and I don’t even know where to begin with. Probably an assistant would have suffice. I tend to be freer whenever I’m abroad and I feel under pressure whenever I’m in Brunei. Some even suggested that I get a PR status in Singapore since I was born there too. Singapore was fun. My trip was shy of a fortnight and I had a splendid time with my family especially my mom who is recovering from a minor surgery. I was also there in Singapore to celebrate her birthday earlier this week before I head back home.
A few highlights for me was the Earth Hour in Singapore, the release of the Adidas FX Flux in Singapore (though there is a big downside to that) and also the quick sneaks of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hosted by Sony Pictures (Singapore). And of course, I was able to catch up with a few of my buddies in Singapore too. I shall be making another trip back if time permits and I hope to be there in time for the exclusive premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 before it will be released the following week.
I have yet to settle here back in Brunei and I’ve been spending more time catching on my deprived rest. I know this myself that I need to organise my things to get back in shape. I’m also pretty behind in my fitness level as I have registered for the 21km race for Sundown, end of May, in Singapore. So there are many things under my checklist before mid year kicks in and time has been flying pretty fast I must say. The other guilty thing(s) that I’m aware of are my resolutions for 2014 which I pledged for myself on 1st January 2014. I would say that I’m only 2% on it and this is already mid April *lol* Talk about commitment, aye? I hope my baby steps can give a much needed boost to get me going for my resolution.
I recently attended the BIT Council meeting and I learnt quite a few things that were shared among the members of the BIT Council. This actually stands for Brunei Information Technology Council and it’s spearheaded by the Minister of Communications. We recently were given a book which has a case study on Brunei’s indices rating on technology and it is being reported that we are pretty far behind when it comes to affordability. Many of us have questioned the credibility of the findings as it contradicts the predicted patterns of the consumer ends side of the things. Perhaps there wasn’t much explanation given in-depth on the findings and I believe the government have spend quite on a fortune on it too.
Recent weeks have been challenging indeed. Making new friends, reconciling ones and sustaining the closer ones. I have learnt the different types of characters that I’ve gone through and it was also a great reflection of myself too. Despite the awareness that I have, the choices I have made may not be favourable in the eyes of some. I have yet to reach my highest self and give myself a kick in the butt that I can do better. My connections with my trusted ones have been haywire to say the least. I have probably judged my own being too and allow others to judge my well being and actions. For now, it’s a rebuilding journey ahead. Lessons after lessons with many distractions along the way. Well, that’s how life is, right?
I’m gonna enjoy my Sunday and recover back from my sleepy eyes. Have a great Sunday, peeps!!!
Oh, below are some of the photos that I felt like sharing with your guys.
During my mom’s birthday earlier this week. Thank you, mom, for being a great provider to the family and continuously supporting us since Day 1. I surprised her with some flowers I bought from Takashimaya. Though there aren’t as big as others but this small gesture has more meaning and it was the first time I actually handed a bouquet of flowers to my mom personally 😀
Yazid Yakub what sapped me this picture earlier this afternoon and I wept a little seeing this photo. It shows how much I missed my high school years back in Geelong Grammar School, Victoria, Australia. Yesterday there was our class reunion on 94’ and sadly, I wasn’t able to join Yazid and the rest down under. The picture was taken during our final year prom night to mark the end of our high school years. Thank you for the memories 😀
A nameless soft toy given to me by @lilmopiko @timelessrealm. I have no idea why I was so attached to this toy and I carried with me wherever I went. Not until my trip to Penang in 2012, I lost it and till today, I couldn’t let go that feeling of attachment. Many lessons can be learnt here.
A match that I didn’t bother to catch live on TV but just rely on social media for updates. This was the rematch between Manny and Bradley and the Filipino managed to avenge his defeat by an unanimous decision. This is a great shot by the way.
Some billed this as a title decider. I think not. There are still plenty of points to play for. Should Liverpool beat Manchester City and Chelsea this month, it’s a high possibility the title could be virtually Liverpool’s. The season hasn’t been this exciting for many years as it has become a three horse race.
I tried these Burger King’s Drummets and I was impressed. It’s available now at our local franchise store at Bandar
I caught Wrestlemania and my reactions were pretty mixed. I love the finale though but the saddest part is to see The Undertaker’s streak to end by Brock Lesnar. Then again, it has to happen one day and Brock is a much better candidate to do so. Hulk Hogan didn’t do much to host Wrestlemania so I don’t see why the big hype. By the way, I had to fork out USD 60 for the PPV as I was watching it on WWE.com on my notebook.
These wireless Jabra earpieces are awesome especially for my runs. The only problem which can be annoying is when it’s trying to pair with my phone device. It may take some time to detect. A few days ago, I accidentally left these earpiece on the McDonald’s tray at Singapore. There goes my Jabra piece. How careless of me!!!

Chef Cathy from Royal Brunei Catering was participating in the recent FHA 2014 Culinary Challenge. She didn’t win in her category but she really enjoyed the experience. Her colleague Chef Ahmad bagged Silver Medal under the “Class 3B Pastry Showpiece”. RBC sent 8 chefs to compete in the Culinary Challenge recently held in Singapore.
There was quite a crowd at the recent FHA2014 held at the Singapore Expo. My feet were aching just walking through most of the halls. There were 10 halls altogether. Apparently those who attended previous FHA events said that there weren’t much difference.
Finally it rained in Singapore after weeks of dry spell. I’m also sporting my current favourite walking shoes too – Adidas FX Flux though I’m still bummed out that I missed out the Prism Flux edition.
I bumped into an old friend at the Changi Airport and she was transiting from her Umrah trip via Singapore. We kinda have matching head covers 😀

Such a sad news to know that the Ultimate Warrior passed away. He was just on Wrestlemania 30 and came on RAW and passed away a day later. He is definitely a legend superstar for WWE and it was good to see him being inducted in the Hall of Fame
Another friend I bumped into in Singapore and we did a quick shopping at Zara. Happy belated Aziimah 😀
Mom bought a stack of this iTunes card at Qisahn at Far East Shopping Centre, Orchard Road. A USD 15 card only costs BND 20. Good deal, aye?
I miss this place already. This was my regular jogging spot at the Singapore Botanics Garden. The only place that I can appreciate nature and the green while burning my calories. The swing does bring some childhood memories.

RP associates with Patrick Fiat, General Manager of Royal Plaza on Scotts celebrate the hotel turning 40 years
Royal Plaza on Scotts celebrated its 40th anniversary. To mark this milestone, the hotel has launched a fun week filled with exciting activities. A special appreciation dinner was held today, Friday, 28 March, for its 16 long-time associates who have been with the hotel for 40 years. 19 department heads gathered to whip up delectable dishes and serve dinner for 45 associates and their loved ones. Mr Patrick Fiat, General Manager, led a team of 8 other department heads as the Chief Butler, putting his F&B knowledge and skills to good use.
The rest of the management team took charge of different areas, including Hot Kitchen, Cold Kitchen and Pastry Kitchen to cook up a storm. Mr Liew Pin Pong, Chief Engineer, shared, “I am very excited to whip up this special dinner for our long service associates along with the rest of the department heads. It expresses our gratitude and appreciation for these individuals who have contributed to the success of the hotel. It is a great opportunity to meet up with my team members’ loved ones and thank them for their support.” Family members also took the opportunity to meet the associates’ co-workers and learn more about the hotel. They also indulged in a weekend staycation with their loved ones in the Royal Club Premiere room, inclusive of club benefits.
All departments came together on 24 March and expressed their creativity in a cake decorating competition. Each department was given a slab of irregularly shaped cake to decorate within 30 minutes. The decorated slabs were then placed together to form the number 40, signifying the role each department has played in the hotel’s journey to date. Associates also showed their spirit of togetherness by donning a specially designed jersey.
All associates of the hotel were also treated to special perks during the week, such as an international feast and seafood highlights from its award-winning restaurant, Carousel. Not forgetting the less privileged, the hotel also engaged visually-handicapped masseurs from Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, a beneficiary of Community Chest, to treat all associates to pampering head and shoulder massages and foot reflexology. A mini fun fair at S.E.R.V.I.C.E. Square, the associates’ cafeteria, also brought much fun and joy to the hotel as associates bonded over exciting games and delicious snacks.

Emma Stone and her love interest Andrew Garfield, the casts of The Amazing Spider-Man movie with director Marc Webb at the Earth Hour Event. Image courtesy of Getty Images for Sony
This is the second time I attended Earth Hour events in Singapore. I have to say though that not many landmarks or buildings actually pledged for the Earth Hour for an hour or so in Singapore. The same also goes to Melbourne when I was there two years ago. Earth Hour wasn’t that celebrated to its maximum or maybe even a quarter of its maximum (if there’s such measurement).
Yesterday I attended an event organised by @wwfsg (instagram) at the Marina Float, Singapore. There was quite a turn out last night too. Of course, the biggest draw was the appearance of the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man movie with their director and producers. So it was nice of them to fly all the way to Singapore for a few days’ visit and spreading the awareness of conserving energy. It’s also message for all of us that we can play our part as superheroes and save the planet. Awesome!!
The event carried on after 9:30pm but we left around 10pm and I wasn’t sure what time it ended. There was DJ Dave spinning some music to the delight of the crowd. I think I am too old for this *lol* Nonetheless, well done to the WWF SG and the those involved in making this event a huge success.
As for Brunei, thumbs up for another successful Earth Hour event. I saw tons of pictures on Instagram and it looks you guys really had fun. Awesome!! I shall be reporting and blogging about that soon too.
I missed Emma Stone’s appearance but she’s such a gem, isn’t she? Image courtesy of Getty Images for Sony.

The emcee was telling the crowd not to throw rubbish around but it was easy for the guests to get away with littering since it was dark and packed
Thumbs up to these guys for helping to clear the rubbish while the event was still going on
