14 years. Yes, 14 years it has been before Suzuki unveiled their 4th generation of their Suzuki line-up which is the Jimny. It was launched earlier today at Suzuki Showroom at Gadong.

The revamped 4th generation Jimny has an overall different feel as compared to the 3rd generation. You can already tell from the exterior feel how the latest Jimny is much more rugged and furthermore, it is ALLGRIP car meaning it’s a 4×4 which will give the drivers the off-road experience.

What caught my eye the most is the look and feel. It doesn’t deviate too much from its corporate identity as you can still tell it’s a Jimny but the facelift makes me more relevant to the current trends globally.

The Suzuki Jimny is suitable for many purposes including outdoor adventure concept. I’m pretty sure this model will be a hit among the young and the not-so young because it appeals to all walks of life.

There’s ample legroom and headroom for the comfort of the passengers and the driver. Back space for luggage is bigger than previous model.

The upgraded Jimny is the first Suzuki’s model in Brunei to be equipped with a newly developed 1.5 liter engine, hence, creates strong torque for powerful off-road performance and delivers high fuel efficiency due to a lightweight compact design.

The safety features are quite enhanced in a way. There is the Hill Hold Control which makes hill starts easier by preventing the car from rolling backward (uuuuu me likes that feature), Hill Descent Control which automatically applies the brake when traveling downhill and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which detects spillage to give the drivers a peace of mind when driving off-road. Furthermore, the body frame centres on Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept, resulting in a structure that efficiently absorbs and disperse energy in the event of a collision.

The prices are quite competitive and reasonable. Maybe even entice you to get one. The units so far are fully booked but members of the public are welcome to view the showroom models until 9th November 2018. There will be refreshments and also limited edition door gifts for those who come today and tomorrow.

Congratulations once again to Boustead Sdn Bhd on the launch of the 4th generation of Jimny. The wait was definitely worth it.

Royal Brunei Airlines flight BI003 made an important diversion and landed at Vienna International Airport, Austria, yesterday after the aircraft had some technical issues

Due to technical issues, Royal Brunei Airlines flight BI003 from Bandar Seri Begawan (BWN) to London Heathrow (LHR) on 07th November 2018 has made a diversion landing at Vienna International Airport.

The safety and security of our guests is of paramount importance to RB and we are currently working to ensure our passengers will safely reach London Heathrow through other carriers.

Please be advised that Flight BI004 on 07th November 2018 from London Heathrow to Bandar Seri Begawan is cancelled. Guests are currently rerouted on other airlines.

It hasn’t been confirmed on what the technical issue is and no statement or press release given by Royal Brunei Airlines to confirm on the specific technical issues. It was definitely a significant technical issue as RB flight B1003 had to make an unscheduled landing at Vienna International Airport. What’s more important are the safety of the passengers, pilots and crew on board. Kudos to the pilots for the quick thinking, considering this is a long haul flight (14 hours) and a non-stop flight from Brunei Darussalam to London. Appreciation also goes to the crew on board to calm the situation and making sure everyone is safe and in good hands. Alhamdulillah.

On board on the flight B1003 was Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa Ash’ari, a member of the Legislative Council, who tweeted on the whole ordeal from checking in in Brunei International Airport to finally arriving in London safely. She did highlight one thing though – Travel insurance 🙂 Oh yes, how that is so important and let’s not taking everything for granted.

Let’s hope the situation of such incident is a rare one. Once again, kudos to the pilots and the crew on handling the situation and the swift thinking of the pilots.

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Brunei’s largest banking institution, has recently been ranked as the second strongest bank in South East Asia and one of the top ten strongest banks in Asia-Pacific by The Asian Banker (TAB).

Among Asia-Pacific’s top 500 Strongest Banks by Balance Sheet, BIBD progressed from its previous ranking at 14th place and remains the only Bruneian bank to be featured, while marking its third consecutive year in the list.

The ranking is based on a very detailed and transparent scorecard that ranks commercial banks on six areas of balance sheet financial performance; namely the ability to scale, balance sheet growth, risk profile, profitability, asset quality and liquidity.

According to a press release by TAB, BIBD was commended on the improvement of its strength score, along with strong capital and liquidity positions, together with its improved asset quality, which have contributed to the bank’s ability to achieve a robust standing in balance sheet results.

Recently, a prize presentation and customer appreciation lunch was held at Li Gong Restaurant for the Coca-Cola Raya Contest 2018. Present during the event were invited guests and contest winners. Commercial Planning Director, Ms. June Tay from Coca-Cola Refreshments Malaysia (CCRM) also shared a few words in regards to the event.

The recent contest was open to all Brunei residents where participants were required to purchase any 12 cans of the participating brands including Coca-cola, Sprite, Fanta, A&W, Heaven & Earth, Aquarius and Minute Maid. Participants were then required to register by sending a “HI COCO-COLA’ to a given contact number where they will then need to follow the instructions given to them.

Winning the grand prize of the event was Chong Siaw Hian, who won a total amount of Ten Thousand Brunei Dollars (B$10,000.00) Cash Prize that was presented by CCRM Sales Director, Ms. Yap Wei Han and the Managing Director of Syarikat Perniagaan Malar Setia, Mr Lim Chin Lam.
