ICT companies participating CommunicAsia 2011

10 Local ICT companies are leaving today to participate in  the upcoming CommunicAsia 2011, which will be held from 21-24 June, 2011  in Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Hall in Singapore. These young and dynamic companies will be exhibiting their own made-in Brunei ICT products to the international market and as well as gaining knowledge on latest technologies and exchange of ideas through business networking with international companies. The Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, who is also attending the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX) ministerial forum in Singapore, was lending support to the delegation which is headed by Hj Yahkup bin Haji Menudin, Chief Executive of Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).

These companies will be exhibiting under the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion which is coordinated and subsidised by AITI as part of AITI’s ICT Industry Development initiatives. These participating companies  include BruGPS Technologies Sdn Bhd, Crescent Sdn Bhd, Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru), Network Intergrity Assurance Technologies Sdn Bhd(NIAT), Ilm academy, Mars Enterprise, Padian.com, Expansys Technologies and Infindo. AITI has been promoting l ICT products and services actively in CommunicAsia under the Brunei Pavilion since 2008.

CommunicAsia is the Asia’s largest knowledge based ICT platform. CommunicAsia features a comprehensive myriad of key and emerging technologies from backhaul network, systems integration to software and applications to the end uses. Highlighting the newest technology innovations, latest industry updates from the ICT industry and featuring thought-provoking sessions by prominent industry players in the Summit. 

With the existence of the Brunei pavilion, AITI envisions that this will create great international exposure which promotes Brunei ICT capabilities. It is also an opportunity to build new strategic ties with potential business partners. Courtesy of AITI.

RBAF Young Officer Half Marathon

tBERAKAS,  Saturday 12 March 2011 – The Performance Optimisation Centre, Ministry of Defence has organised a half marathon run that is participated by the young officer of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).   The run began from Berakas Camp to Muara Camp covering a distance of 21 km for the the male and 15 km for the female.
The aim of the event was to highlight the importance of adopting a fitness culture amongst the young officer in the RBAF, the tommorow’s leaders.   Present as the guest of honour was the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin who also presented the prizes the to the winners for both male and female participants.

Visit of Deputy Minister of Defence to USS Reuben James Battleship

Muara, Saturday 05 March 2011 – That was what the crew of the USS Reuben James (FFG 57) that docked at Muara Port on March 4 (Friday) said as they greeted VIPs visiting the high-tech battleship yesterday morning.

During the visit, Brunei Darussalam’s Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, YAM Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah, Colonel (U) Haji Jofri bin Haji Abdullah, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, and Mr Alexander L Barraso, the Charge d’ Affairs at the US Embassy, were briefed on the functions and capabilities of the Reuben James – the 51st ship of the Oliver Hazard Perry class of guided missile frigates.


Farewell Visit By Chief of Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy

040311_2frontBolkiah Garrison, Friday 04 March 2011 – Rear Admiral (RADM) Chew Men Leong, Chief of Navy from the Republic of Singapore Navy made a farewell visit to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat on 4th March 2011 at the Ministry of Defence.

RADM Chew began his military career in 1985 when he was enlisted in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).  During his appointment, RADM Chew has made outstanding contributions which included the formation of the Maritime Task Force and the establishment of the Information Fusion Centre (IFC). He has also play a significant role during the operational deployment of his military team to the Gulf of Aden. His previous visit to Brunei Darussalam was in 2008 for an introductory visit to the Deputy Minister of Defence, the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy.
