The one that got away

Last Sunday, The Brunei Hotel hosted to the 1st Canon Photo Shootout in Brunei, a competition open to photographers from all over Brunei. The competition was organised by the Interhouse Company, in association with Canon Singapore, with the aim of promoting photography as a hobby or profession and for people to enjoy ‘the true meaning of photography without software editing’.

Present to help judge the photos were experienced local photographers Hj Haranadi, Rudolf Portillo, Ong Heng Seng and David Yeo of Canon Singapore Pte Ltd. Also present was Vincent Goh, Deputy Managing Director, who gave an opening speech before the event started.

Participants were given three themes throughout the day, with only two hours to complete each theme, the first being ‘opposites’, the second ‘delicious’, and the third and final theme was ‘colours’.

The prizes up for grabs in each category were, for the first prize, a Canon EOS60D EFS 18-55mm Kit, a Canon IXUS300 HS for the second prize and a Canon Pixma MP276 all-in-one printer for third.

Mr Vincent Goh concluded the event by expressing the Interhouse Company and Canon Singapore’s desire to collaborate again next year and turn the event into an annual competition for aspiring photographers. Text by Jake Ten of Borneo Bulletin.
