The Edition E is also packed with safety features like the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, which helps to significantly reduce the risk of a rear-end collision, ATTENTION ASSIST, which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness across a wider speed range, and also inform the driver about his level of fatigue and the amount of driving time which has elapsed since the last break.

In addition, the vehicle also offers are a number of assistance systems such as the Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Active Parking Assist, etc. Lane

Lane Keeping Assist employs a camera to recognise when the vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane, duly warning the driver by means of pulsed vibrations through the steering wheel.

Blind Spot Assist employs radar sensors to detect vehicles in the blind spot and duly provides the driver with visual and audible warnings.

The challenge today is: Will Seruji finally walk away with the Challenge Trophy that has eluded him on multiple occasions and make him the first ever in Baiduri Masters history to do so? Or will the return of Khairul Kamis after a two-year hiatus break his win streak? Will 2016 see yet another hole-in-one?

Wayback Burgers is in town

Juffrydin with his family enjoying dinner at Wayback Burgers last night

It was pretty busy behind the counter in preparation for the huge crowd in the coming weeks or so

Wayback Burgers, an international franchise is now in Brunei with their grand opening scheduled to take place on 21st May 2016. Days prior to the official opening, members of the media and social media influencers such as @bruneifoodies were treated to a Wayback’s Snack-Review-Sneak-Preview session at their Setia Kenangan II outlet.

They were introduced to a brief introduction of Wayback Burgers by U.S. Wayback Burgers representative Mark Biccum, Director Of Training, Jake Wayback Burgers LLC and Brunei Wayback Burgers representative, John Burgos, Managing Director, JonRidge(B) Sdn Bhd, followed by a treat to some of Wayback’s signature products prepared for the occasion.

Wayback Burgers is a U.S. franchise serving burgers to Americans for more than twenty years, operating in 26 states with more than 100 locations nationally and internationally in Argentina. Wayback Burgers, through its executed master franchise agreements, plans to open in 33 countries which include the Middle East, Northern Africa, Argentina, Pakistan, Canada, India and Brunei.

The good news is that Brunei is the first in ASEAN to have the franchise in the region. Awesome, huh? Furthermore, the Brunei franchise is hoping to expand its market outside Brunei. The second outlet has already been announced at Giant Rimba while the third one will be known to the public soon. I also liked the idea that Wayback Burgers Brunei has a training centre where staff and the newer ones can undergo training. The training centre is still undergoing renovation but I like the idea of the partners where they are already thinking ahead.

I met the man behind JonRidge (B) Sdn Bhd, the chairman of the company. A very humble local guy who wants to help to give back to the economy by creating employment and also bring more revenue to the economy by expanding locally and internationally. He also owns other companies and this is the first time experience in handling F&B franchise. I truly admire his vision as an entrepreneur and thank you, Juffrydin, for your hospitality last night.

I also would like to thank Jon Burgos for sponsoring some vouchers for the winners of my Snapchat competition last night. I was amazed by the responses I had on Snapchat through the quiz I had. It looks like Snapchat could be the next in-thing for future quizzes apart from the already routined Instagram. Congratulations to @aimananas and @ayeshah on Snapchat for guessing the right answer – 9 layers of patties on the Triple Triple 😀

Prior to Wayback Burger’s official opening this coming Saturday, the restaurant has already received birthday dinner reservations. The business is already in operation so you can head now to their first outlet.

For more information on Wayback Burgers, interested parties can follow them on their instagram; @WaybackburgersBrunei and their hashtag #waybackburgersBrunei

The star of the night – BURGERSSSSS….

The buns have a distinctive colour and texture as compared to others and the patties are something to look forward to

For hot dog lovers, what are you waiting for. Do you also realise the newspaper type they use in their food presentation. Not to worry, it’s not the usual newspaper texture you feel everyday. It feels like a plastic wrapper but more unique.

Mark Biccum, Director Of Training, U.S. Wayback Burgers representative, is in town for intensive training for the local associates. He also shared the different types of burgers that were being displayed for the media.

I had more than 20 entries on Snapchat and one of the first winner was @aimananas who happened to be around the area when he answered the quiz.

Definitely the highlight of the night – The Triple Triple – 9 patties with 9 slices of American Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato. Don’t worry, Sandy. You’re also the highlight :p Btw, no one has accepted the challenge yet to finish off a triple triple solo.

Billy Lim Soon Sin was in town for a few days to conduct a special training/workshop for IA Salon. He is quite popular in the hair industry, being known as the Malaysia’s Top Hair Director and also a consultant in terms of advising businesses for the hair salons in the region. He has been in the hair styling industry for three decades and Cecilia Lee, IA Salon Artistic Directress, was so overwhelmed in having his presence in the Sultanate because it’s never easy to catch him for appointments due to his busy schedules.

For Billy, his passion is also to help others in the hair industry to grow collectively. He strongly believe that everyone have to work hard not to only improve oneself but moreover, to emphasize professionalism on and off work. Billy shared that he is still in the learning stage.

During his short visit, the trained 11 hair stylists of IA Salon and they are all now MHA certified under Billy’s guidance. MHA stands for Malaysia Hair Association. He provided consultation and techniques on haircut hair colouring, scalp and hair treatment.

He was recently on the national radio to promote the awareness and the responses have been positive. Meeting him in person was an honour and you are such a down to earth person, Billy. All the best in your vision and I hope many salons will benefit with your vision. Keep it up!!!

Due to overwhelming support and donations received by organising committee of “Food and Goods Drive” for the Old Folks House Seria last week, Fun Bee Park have arranged some of the food items and goods to share to young orphans residing at Kg Rimba.

The orphans, aged between three to ten years old, were delighted to receive the gift hampers packed with stationeries and goodies to prepare them for school.

This donation was part of a charity campaign with organising committee Fun Bee Park and its customers as well as the generous members of the public.

In a speech by the Creative Directress and Manager of Fun Bee Park, Cecilia Lee, said that the event is held to show the love and care for the young orphans, and reminder that they are not forgotten and will never be. “With this gift hampers, we hope to bring cheers to the orphans and as well as sharing goods for their further use,” said Lee.

Tourist SIM cards, I like 😀

Bob Gill, Chief Sales Officer of Progresif in his opening remarks

Devin Edwards, Chief Marketing Officer of Progresif, Yang Mulia Edzwan Zukri POKJP DSS Hj Adnan, Board of Director of Progresif, Dr Hj Abdul Manaf Hj Metussin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Bob Gill, Chief Sales Officer of Progresif and Hjh Nurul Haniah Hj Jaafar, Head of Legal and Regulatory of Progresif cutting the ribbon during the launch of the Progresif flagship store at Brunei International Airport (arrival hall)

Progresif has made it simple for tourist or visitors to sign up for sim cards for their temporary stay. Now they can register themselves at the newly launched flagship store at the Brunei International Airport.

Now for those on the tourist package, you can access the Tourism Development Department’s (TDD) website – www.bruneitourism.travel – without incurring data charges. Isn’t that ultra cool? 😀 So do check out the Visitor Plan SIM Package which is only available at their outlet at Brunei International Airport.

This is a good strategy for both Progresif and Brunei Tourism as this will help to promote places of interest in Brunei and also help the growth of the local economy. Basically, this won’t also stop if you are a local too to get register for this particular sim card.

This is how Progresif is giving back to the community and not just visitors but also the youth and students can benefit from this convenience. I truly love the idea. Good job on Progresif on such initiative.

Progresif said subscribers can sign up for the Visitor Plan for $10 for one-week validity which comes with a bundle of 10 minutes worth of IDD (International Direct Dialling) calls, 10 international SMS, 50 minutes of local calls, 50 local SMS and 1 gigabyte of local data.

Present during the launch were Dr Hj Abdul Manaf Hj Metussin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Yang Mulia Edzwan Zukri POKJP DSS Hj Adnan, Board of Director of Progresif, Bob Gill, Chief Sales Officer of Progresif, Devin Edwards, Chief Marketing Officer of Progresif and Hjh Nurul Haniah Hj Jaafar, Head of Legal and Regulatory of Progresif.

A brand new sound

Beoplay A1

I’m in love with Beoplay A1

I’m always impressed with B&O products. The sound, the quality and the overall experience are something that are irreplaceable. Did you know that Brunei has a physical Bang & Olufsen store and it’s located at Kiarong.

Last evening, B&O Brunei officially launched the latest speakers, the Beoplay A1 and it’s the smallest speakers to date from the B&O Play. Designed for life on the go by award-winning designer Cecilie Manz, it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and packs a punch well beyond its size. Yes, from the demo last night, the A1 packs a punch indeed.

I congratulate Howard Leong, General Manager of Sejalin Enterprise, and his team on the introduction of the Beoplay A1 and also the B35 speakers. I truly love the B&O showroom and it’s something I want my work station to be like one day. Enough about that. Let’s focus more on the Beoplay A1 speakers.

I love them, A1 😀 It can act as a speakerphone for taking calls out loud and up to 24 hours of battery life (awesome) and you can show off to others who used other brands in terms of battery life performance.

So Ewa, are you getting one?

Passing around the Beoplay A1 for the invited guests to feel the quality of the A1 speakers

I wonder if Stuart will purchase one after the 30th of May :p

The Beoplay A1 is dome shaped and is akin to an oversized hockey puck with its 132mm diameter. The top of the A1 is covered in a perforated, thick layer of aluminium which certainly contributes to its premium and elegant look. Meeting the aluminium roughly half way down the body is a base made of rubber material that houses all the control buttons. The soft-push controls provide some tactile feedback.

The circle button, for now, is used to reconnect to your last playback device and start playing music. As a contrast to the hard industrial design, B&O throws in a full-grain leather strap.

The A1 can be used for business and pleasure – you can take calls and it also has a microphone to provide uniform 360 speech sensitivity. Now that’s amazing. It might be ideal for my podcasting.

In conclusion, you will definitely be seduced by the sound and its sleek design. I’ve always trust in B&O products and I would highly recommend the Beoplay A1 speakers whether be it indoor and outdoor. For a price of BND 399, this is a great buy. Pre-orders can be made at B&O showroom (follow them on Facebook Page) and the stock will be available in two weeks’ time. I’m still thinking if I should invest in one. My conscience is siding more owning one. We shall wait and see.

The official ceremony was held earlier this month where the importance for the younger generation to start nurturing a savings culture from an early age was iterated. With this year’s theme “Financially Literate Generation”, it is hoped that the increased awareness of financial independence could lead to individuals and households alike to be more financially aware and financially vigilant in the future. This is in line with the Wawasan Brunei 2035 objective towards achieving a dynamic and sustainable economy, as well as highly-skilled population.

The roadshow in Brunei Muara was open to primary school students from the district. A deep gratitude to all my sponsors, clients and most of all, RA followers for the past 14 years on my blog and social media. It has been an interesting journey 😀

Here for the long run

U.S. Ambassador to Brunei, His Excellency Craig Allen in his opening remarks this morning at Brilliance Hall at Concepts Computer, Kiulap

It was a special occasion for both Concepts Technologies and Mircosoft (B) Sdn Bhd as the U.S. Ambassador to Brunei, His Excellency Craig Allen, was invited as a guest of honour in the event themed “Accelerating Competitiveness among SMEs with Technology”. The objective of this event is to boost up business productivity through technology targeting SMES in Brunei Darussalam.

His Excellency gave an opening remarks and joked how he wasn’t much of an IT person but praised the efforts Microsoft (Brunei) and Concepts Technologies for reaffirming the strengths between a local company and a US brand, Microsoft.

As you can see that Microsoft is the market leader in Brunei in terms of their operating system in computers. I’m pretty sure the same can be said for worldwide. I grew up using Microsoft and though for the past eights years that I’ve been using Appel computers, it didn’t stop me using Microsoft products on Apple.

Hence, I can see how Microsoft can empower SMEs to make improvements to the business of managing departments including managing infrastructure and services. So it was good of Concepts Technologies and Microsoft (B) to invite the local SMEs in attending this morning session as they are presented an added value session where it includes a time of sharing on Microsoft licensing solutions in assessing risk, optimizing productivity and cutting costs.

As a Microsoft distributor, one of their roles is to ensure SMEs are educated on the right track to adopt premium level technology. Just imagine business software like Office 365 equips organization in having the tools to overcome the challenges of executing on strategy every day and prospering in today’s economic down turn.

He hopes for more US collaboration with Brunei in regards to SMEs from different industries

A token of appreciation from Vincent Pao to the guest of honour

Haniza Zakariya, Managing Director of Microsoft (Brunei)

During the press conference

Also present were Vincent Pao, Group CEO of Concepts Group of Companies and Haniza Zakariya, Managing Director of Microsoft (B) Sdn Bhd.

Haniza shared in her speech about how Microsoft can empower businesses by making a technology a business advantage. With Microsoft, your business can increase in efficiency and annual revenue. You will have the capabilities to create jobs almost twice as fast as other small businesses. She shared that you need the technology that can grow right along with your business and the freedom to work the way you and your team work best.

His Excellency Craig Allen shared that Brunei has introduced a number of initiatives to demonstrate its commitment to local entrepreneurs and not to be reliant on hydrocarbon exports. He is full of praise on the Brunei Government’s initiative in launching a statutory body, DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) in supporting the local SMES. He even announced that there will be three representatives from Brunei who are invited to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) which will be hosted by President Obama in Silicon Valley in June 2016 (lucky them).

His Excellency also touched on Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud and Windows 10 where it enables SMES to build a cloud-based IT ecosystem that enables employees to stay productive o matter where they are working from.

After the speech, His Excellency with Haniza and Vincent held a quick press conference for the media before heading for a quick tour of the premise of Concepts Computer.

Team America

Having the luxury of the time to catch Captain America: Civil War three times, I have to admit that the replay value hasn’t bore me just yet. This is how I am amazed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how Disney has made it such a lovable franchise ever since they bought over the franchise.

The movie is slated to be a big box office machine. Having already raking in USD 75 million on Friday alone, it will reach in the region of USD 175 to USD 190 million tops. It’s unlikely to touch the USD 200 million region which many predicted it would be. Now the question is will it have the legs to break the USD 350 million mark in the months to come. The previous movie, Captain America: Winter Solider, made USD 259 million. It’s no surprise that Civil War will surpassed that in just two weeks. We shall wait and see.

Here’s just another short review of my version of Civil War.

First thing’s first. I love the movie. It’s quite a rare feat that I would watch a movie for the third time. Even a fourth viewing is a possibility. I’ve already caught it three times in a space of 9 days so no harm done for the next viewing, right?

Now, what I love about Civil War?

1) This is a movie that Batman V Superman wanted to be. The lame battle or war that the DC characters recently had was just simply $#%^@~#. The plot just got too tangled in the web and there was no way out of it. Purely messy. As for Civil War, the premise and the build up were solid from start to finish and furthermore, it was able to create a situation where you as the audience would have to choose between Team Cap or Team Ironman. As for Batman V Superman, the delivery of their rivalry lacked substance and desire for the audience to be involved in.

2) How do you handle so many characters in a two and a half hour movie? And none of the characters were not put to waste. That I have to salute the Russo brothers for pulling a great feat which Joss Whedan did for The Avengers. Some of the characters had shorter screen time but it was enough to make us feel interested in their characters. As for Doomsday or even Lex Luthor, not so much. Something Zack Synder lacked.

3) I have to applaud for their ingenuity of the action sequences in Civil War. The airport scene still leaves me mesmerized and I could just watch over and over again. My only problem is the less usage of Vision during the fight scenes *little spoiler alert* but other than that, the airport scene is perhaps the best superhero action scene of all time and many producers and directors will have a hard time to top this feat.

4) The introduction of Black Panther and Spider-Man. I had reservations on their characters when I watched the trailer. Why? Panther is a low key superhero in Marvel while we have gotten bored with many renditions of Spider-Man. However, these were not the cases for both Panther and Spider-Man. I won’t spoil much but man, they both will have a bright future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That are just the gist of what I thought of Civil War. There are many talking points for the final installment of Captain America. So who’s your favourite character? Mine’s definitely Spider-Man. Verdict: 8.5-9/10
