Posing with Adrian Chu and I bought a painting of his during his “I Am Adrian” showcase at Mabohai Shopping Complex
I’m proud of Adrian Chu who managed to raise $1,000 during his mini art exhibition at Mabohai Shopping Complex three weeks ago. All the paintings that was showcased were painted by him. The 17 year old autistic artist is also a big fan of Michael Jackson and I was fortunate enough to buy one of his paintings of MJ. The art exhibition was entitled “I Am Adrian”.
Yesterday, he handed over donations in a form of art supplies worth of $500 to Pusat Ehsan. The art supplies were five sets of complete art supplies, canvases and 10 easels.
The donations were received by Nurul Huda Hj Muhin, Acting Head of Administration of Pusat Ehsan. Also present were the management of Mabohai Shopping Complex and Adrian’s parents (Wai-Ming and Sally).
Yvonne Kuan and Adella also paid a visit

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore a prehistoric lost land when massive dangerous roaring dinosaurs still roamed the earth? If so, then look no further than the NBT Jurassic Adventure at the Brunei Edutainment Wonderland 2014. The huge theme park will transport eager visitors back in time to over 65 million years ago when dinosaurs walked the earth. The specially-designed attraction will feature life-sized dinosaur replicas of the vicious tyrannosaurus rex, brontosaurus, pterodactyls, and many more species set in a realistic backdrop of their natural habitat.
Designed with edutainment in mind, the NBT Jurassic Adventure will not only entertain with its life-like dinosaur forms, it will also educate visitors on the life of the ancient extinct beasts. Interesting facts on the dinosaurs may be found all around the theme park not only that there will also be a dedicated viewing area where visitors will be able to watch a documentary on dinosaurs.
And the interactive interesting experiences do not stop there. In one section of the theme park visitors will be able to play out the role of a researcher excavating for fossils (the only evidence of the Jurassic behemoths). Visitors walking around the park might even be lucky enough to come across raptors seeking their next prey.
Entry tickets for the spectacular NBT Jurassic Adventure will be priced at $10 for adults and $6 for children. Good news for Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) card holders is that they are entitled to a 15 percent discount on entry tickets when they choose to purchase tickets with their BIBD card.

The students of Yippy Tune with their certificates
Yippy Tune celebrated it’s 3rd annual recital on Sunday attracting full capacity crowds for all 6 of it’s sessions on a single day; starting from 11am all the way to 6.30pm.
The audiences were treated with an afternoon of pure musical indulgence of different genres from classical to pop and jazz from performers as young as three and a half years old.
There was a clear distinction between this year’s performance and the year before, both in terms of student participations as well as the range of musical instruments being played at the recital – which includes, the Violin, Piano, Guitars and vocal performances.
“One of the overriding themes chosen by the students to perform this year had been the songs from Frozen’s soundtracks. Clearly, Brunei is not immune from the ‘Frozen’ fever.” According to Ms Deon Ong- the School Director.
Also present to perform at the event were the students from St Andrew’s School, performing group music with their violins in the afternoon. The St Andrew’s Students were coached by Yippy Tune teachers during the term with the onsite music learning program.
The music school has seen a steady growth in business in the last 12 months, as there had been an increase in the realization of the importance of music appreciation and skills amongst the parents. “Music has along been associated with children’s cognitive and social development; I think the parents in Brunei are increasingly realizing this very crucial point.” Which, as a result, “the number of staff has multiplied three-fold.” According to the School Director. Singing the National Anthem song to kick off the show
Last year was the bomb!! So was this year’s Jerudong International School Showcase Concert. They had three shows, the first being performed internally for the students and teachers of JIS while the remaining two shows were opened to public.
I like this year’s theme which was “Movies and Musicals”. According to Principal Andrew Fowler-Watt, he expressed that how music influences us and by listening together we connect, no matter our nationality or culture.
Overall, I was super impressed with the quality from the vocals to the performers to the the musicians and let’s not forget the sound technicians and those people back stage and mostly the music coordinator who set the pace from start to finish. Sophia and I really had a great time and I can’t wait for next year’s edition.

Ruby Chong has such great vocal. I love her performance for “You Exist in my Song” written by Wanting Qu, a songwriter based in Vancoucer, Canada
Another performer that brought to an eruption of applause was Shian Li who belted out “Winter – 1st Movement”
When it comes to music and performance, you need great energy and both Hanny Yussof and Bazilah Ali were magnificent from the beginning when they sang a popular song by Najwa Latif entitled “Sahabat”
