The all-new generation Audi A4 Sedan #A4lotion
This is the time of the season.. The second of Syawal (Hari Raya) where there will tons of invites from corporate companies. Well, not all of them I could attend for sure and of course, I was snubbed from some corporate companies. Below are some of the corporate open houses that I managed to drop by and I’ve been getting many similar comments – “Rano, you seem smaller” or “You’ve lost weight”. Awwww.. thanks for the comments but mmmm, looks can be deceiving, my friends.. Standing is the best way to hide all the fats but sitting down is an easy giveaway *lol* I can already fill the tiny increase of my bulge after not controlling what I ate during Hari Raya.
Enough of that.. Just enjoy the pictures and captions from my recent Raya visits.

Hope to meet you again over the course of your stay here and welcome to Brunei Darussalam 😀
Azhani with #POTUS moment :p
My visit to the iCentre where they had organised a potluck Hari Raya. Yea, things have truly changed and perhaps for the better. I actually missed the pioneers (the management then) – Ogy, Rayner, Diwi, Danial and many more. It’s good to pay a visit to iCentre again. Loads of good memories.
Simon and Faezal displaying their upcoming event – Weekend Warriors. It’s actually an app where you can play futsal at your own convenience… well, depending on the court availability too. Let’s put it this way.. if you have a team or even just you alone, you can play and be part of a team. Interesting.. I shall share more of Weekend Warriors pretty soon. Good luck, guys 😀

Late post: Kids as young as 6 years old as well as under 18 youths recently took part in School Holiday Basketball Camps during the March break. The twice run 3-day camps were organized by Shooting Stars Brunei Basketball.
Ken Han, the founder of Shooting Stars Brunei Basketball and Head Coach Ryan Yusof, held the basketball camps to engage kids to provide an opportunity for them to spend their school holidays productively.
The 3-days camps took place on March 23-25 and 28-30 saw specially invited basketball Coach Tan Chee Wan from Malaysia tasking more than 70 Brunei’s aspiring basketballer through a comprehensive training regimen designed to challenge and train them.
Coach Tan was a player in the Malaysian team who took gold during the 1989 SEA Games. Coach Tan’s many years of experience in coaching kids and youth basketball, especially basic fundamentals drills and activities, had a great impact not only for the campers but also to the coaches in Shooting Stars Brunei.
The camp focuses on three themes – Serious Fun, Discipline and Safety.
During the 2 camps, we saw new teammates forge lasting friendships that endure beyond the court. We saw kids, who are new to basketball, at the camp join in with joy with regular kids and youths at SSBN.
This event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and volunteers. Special appreciation goes to Hua Ho, Rano Iskandar, EasyWay Bubble Tea, Ref Station, International School Berakas, ISB catering and canteen team, Baan Nucha Thai Restaurant and especially our SSBN coaches and volunteers.

Malaysian Tourism Hunt 2015 Part I
Guess what? I won first place for the Best Photo for the ASEAN Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 and my team mate Faiq Airudin came 2nd while Johor Kaki came third in the competition. I won myself a new Samsung S6 Edge and now it has become my camera phone 😀
RA’s travel log. The much awaited post of my travels during the ASEAN Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 back in October. I’ve been wanting to post this but waiting for the right time. But for those who have been following me on my social media platforms (Instragram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat), it won’t be a spoiler for you on the course of our journey during the ASEAN Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015.
I shall post on different sections of the journey during my trips on certain locations. The locations that I wanna highlight are Port Dickson and Malacca. I’ve not been to PD for a very, very long time. I was still a little kid then and I couldn’t recollect how it looked back then. One of the tasks that we had to do as part of the Tourism Hunt was at the PD Ostrich Farm. Oh, before I proceed, my double partner for the Tourism Hunt was Faiq Airudin of The Brunei Times while the other Bruneian team was Aziz Idris and Pg Fairol.
So at the PD Ostrich Farm, we were given three tasks 1) to feed the ostrich 2) to catch an ostrich egg in a compound full of ostriches 3) to catch a goose in a given specific time (5 minutes). I knew this was gonna slightly easy but I wasn’t comfortable with the idea of catching the geese as they could get feisty. If both of us managed to grab the geese in less than 2 minutes, full marks will be granted and we clocked it below one minute. The fastest group achieved it in 15 seconds. I couldn’t remember which team.
The tasks were achievable and I believed almost all the teams had full marks with the exception of those who had troubled containing the geese *lol* We were treated to an exquisite lunch meal at the PD Ostrich Farm and even tasted the ostrich omelette and satay. If you want to be adventurous, then go for the ostrich burger 😀
There are many things you can do at the PD Ostrich Farm such as riding the ostrich and even race against the ostrich which some of our friends did. So if you happen to be at Port Dickson, I highly recommend the PD Ostrich Farm and kids will definitely enjoy this.
This was my winning shot taken during the ostrich race at the PD Ostrich Farm
I was actually hoping this shot won the competition but the image above was selected
Team Sarah and Running Suplado in action to catch the geese. Were they successful? Yes, but they lost points due to exceeding the time limit
We did it in less than a minute. I fell down and had a small cut on my leg though 😀
Singapore columnist had the privilege to order an ostrich burger
Another place of interest is at the Mini Malaysia & ASEAN Cultural Park Melaka. It’s an hour’s drive from Port Dickson and a few kilometres outside Melaka, near the town of Ayer Keroh. I kinda like this area because it’s educational and imagine it like a one-stop centre to learn the different cultures of Malaysia. They have some cultural performances and you will have to check on the timings and they will capped off the cultural show with the Tourism Malaysia music theme.
They have dozen of huts to represent the different states in Malaysia and each hut will have a specific cultural theme. We had the privilege to try out batik painting and even playing “Gasing”. To me, I have always wanted to play the real “gasing” and this takes a lot of practice and concentration. It may look easy but once you master the basics, it will be a breeze indeed. Faiq was the best among the group and he executed every attempt to perfection. Awesome!! Yes, my team had full marks for gassing but not so much on Batik Painting and Coconut crating *lol*
So do google on Mini Malaysia & ASEAN Cultural Park Melaka. A place I would pay a visit next time since I didn’t have the chance to visit other huts. You can visit the website for more details or contact +606-234 9988/234 9989.

This was the effort of Faiq and I but we only had half marks
Aziz Idris blowing the top so it will spin more *lol*
Crating the whites of the coconut ain’t easy. We lost some points here.
I want to visit the different huts on my next visit
Next up was the tasks given at Jonker Street of Melaka and the Muzium Samudera. Honestly, I love to walk down Jonker Street and the little streets around the area. There are simply many interesting eateries out there and let alone they are super affordable when comparing with the Brunei currency. I’ve been to Melaka or Malacca a few times already in the past few years. It’s very lively in the evening by the Melaka River and you will easily spot neon-powered rickshaws with built-in sound system (don’t play-play oh).
It was the first time I stayed at Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences in Malacca. This hotel is quite new and I quite enjoyed my two night stay at the hotel. It’s spacious and it has a great modern to feel it too. The good news is that I won myself a voucher for my future stay at the hotel. Woohoo!! Next to the hotel/apartment is the new shopping mall called The Shore Shopping Gallery. You will notice big names such as Nandos, Chatime, Sakae Sushi and Tangs to name a few. For families, you can bring your kids to bring them to Oceanarium.

One of the eateries that I would recommend is the Melaka Nyonya Village. They have awesome local food and even a cultural show to showcase the culture of the Baba Nyonya. Ah, I already miss Melaka and no denying that Meleka has one of the best eateries in Malaysia.

It was quite hazy during our stay at Melaka. Now it’s already back to normal.

Colourful Malaysia
As I have mentioned before, I’m currently in Kuala Lumpur for the Asean Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 and Citrawarna @ Kuala Lumpur. Yesterday the Brunei delegates attended the presentations from Tourism Malaysia and other stakeholders to showcase what Malaysia can offer to the foreigners.
Around 125 foreign travel agents and media under its Mega Fam programme attended the session. The Mega Fam participants are from Brunei, Cambodia, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Maruitius, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
I have to salute Dato’ Haji Azizan Noordin, Deputy Director General of Malaysia Tourism because of his deep knowledge on the statistics and findings on the attraction on Malaysia. He is like the google of Tourism Malaysia and he gave a very comprehensive presentation on Malaysia’s growth. His vision is to make sure that by year 2020 that Malaysia will have 36 million tourist with RM 128 billion. Last year, Malaysia earned RM 72 Billion in revenue from tourists.
The lunch was hosted by Dato’ Mizra Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia at Sheraton Imperial Hotel KL. He thank all the media involved for their support and assistance in promoting Malaysia during Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and the current Malaysia Year of Festivals.
Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia having a good time on stage while celebrity Amelia Henderson looks at the crowd
I have been to many FAM trips but this is the first that I attended a Citrawarna event. Now what would my experience be? Totally worth it. I couldnt’ believe it was a free event too. The crowd was aplenty but it could have been more since it was held at Dataran Merdeka.
There was so much hype for last night’s Citrawarna for one reason – the involvement of Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, an award-winning producer, actress, singer and art enthusiast. Her direction of Citrawarna brought a different kind of flavour to the public, mixing the old and the new and making it relatable to showcase what Malaysia has to offer.
MUD the musical was excellent and I really have to salute the cast and the crew involved in this huge project. There were hardly any breaks and the energy of each acts just continued with strong momentums.
Datuk Aznil Nawawi, Amelia Henderson and Altimet
Depicting the sports promotion in Malaysia
The acrobatic feat by the cheerleaders
Now after many years of being just the usual 3-hour parade, the producer of this year’s Citrawarna opted for a larger stage to showcase the mega event. As you know, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture is the main organizer and hence the involvement of foreign media from all over the world. This shows how much such event can be for tourists especially. I’m surprised that I didn’t come across any Bruneian apart from my counterpart media buddies.
For your information, Citrawarna 2015 was delivered in 3 acts promoting different segments of tourism products, following the theme of Culture, Nature and Future. I love all the segments but personally the final one stood out for me. It was nice to see involvements of some celebrities such as Datuk Aznil Nawawi, Amelia Henderson, Altimet and Kamrul Bahri Hussin.
The showcase itself was already dazzling enough as they masterfully teased the audience with their lighting and sound powered by massive LED screens. The performances were continuous from one act to another and it ended with a display of fireworks.
Such celebration is necessary not only to promote Malaysia as a tourism destination but also calm the negative vibe that has been spreading and in turn, lift the spirit of Malaysians.
The guest of honour was Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia. Thank you, Tourism Malaysia for hosting us for this colourful, vibrant event. You can browse your Instragram and check out the hashtag #citrawarna for more images and videos.

The lady behind this year’s Citrawarna showcase – Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, CEO of Enfiniti Vision Media and Enfiniti Academy. She’s quite well known for producing movies such as Puteri Gunung Ledang. Good job on a spectacular show last night.

Ak Aziz Idris of Borneo Bulletin, Ak Md Fairol of Media Permata, Pg Hj Noorezamy Pg Hj Othman, Marketing Officer of Tourism Malaysia Brunei Darussalam, Cik Zurina And Samad, Director of Tourism Malaysia Brunei Darussalam, Faiq Airudin of The Brunei Times and myself before heading off to Kuala Lumpur for the Asean Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 yesterday
Yay!!! I believe this is my first Malaysia FAM trip of the year. FAM means familiarization trip but the same time, I’m gonna do something quite different because it will involved treasure hunt.. or perhaps in my view, their version of Amazing Race since it involves driving to different states such as Malacca and Negri Sembilan. This trip is also to mark the launch the yearly event which is the Citrawarna in Kuala Lumpur.
I will be focused on the treasure hunt which is named the ASEAN Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 which is hosted by Tourism Malaysia. The flag off will be tomorrow Sunday, 18th October in Kuala Lumpur and it will be a 3-day tourism hunt. I heard the prizes are fantastic and there are many delegates including Brunei Darussalam in the participation list. The Tourism Hunt will require use to drive around and yes, they will be providing us cars to roam around and we will be driving a Proton sedan car.
Representing Brunei Darussalam will be Aziz Idris (Borneo Bulletin), Ak Fairol (Media Permata), Faiq Airudin (The Brunei Times) and myself. I’m not sure what the stakes are but I believe this will be a fun, challenging activity but also testing out physical and mental strength throughout the 3 day tourism hunt.
A big thank you to Tourism Malaysia (Brunei) for another opportunity to be part of this event. Let’s see how my team will fare. You can follow me on Snapchat and instagram @ranoadidas for updates on my journey.

The First Time
The last time I was kinda confused with the Abacus Travel Fair and Travelmania event and of course, everyone is quite familiar with the Abacus brand since it has been around for many years in terms of travel fairs. So when the word Travelmania came into the picture with their partner Abacus, it was a bit tough to recognize who was actually running the show.
Yesterday I missed the press conference of the travel fair which will happen this Saturday and Sunday which will take place at Grandstone Ballroom, Centrepoint Hotel at Gadong. It’s good to know the travel fair is back and it will be called the 11th Abacus Holiday Travel Fair. This will give me another great opportunity to travel in a much cheaper and affordable fare and I know my traveling period starts again in October till December 😀
According to the press release, there will be seven travel agents under the Abacus Brunei such as Anthony Tours & Travel Agency, Century Travel Centre, Darussalam Holdings, Freme Travel Services, Pan Bright Travel Service, Southern Cross Travel Agencies and Straits Central Agencies.
Tourism Malaysia as well as Taiwan Visitors Association and Tourism Authority Thailand based in Kuala Lumpur will be participating again in this fair. Baiduri Bank Berhad, Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) and Singapore Airlines will be having their booths to extend support to the participating travel agents as well as provide assistance to the visitors.

Abacus Brunei thanks its partners as well as travelers for their support in the previous travel fairs. At this much anticipated event, we are looking forward to delivering fresh content and attracting thousands of people in search of their dream vacations.”
“With the support of our partners and travel agents we are confident that we will be able to see a positive growth again this year.” Irene added.
Abd Halim Haji Abd Rahman, Sales & Marketing Manager, Abacus Brunei explained “There will be seven Abacus Brunei based travel agents participating in this travel fair connected to more than 40 Abacus terminals. This will help travel agents efficiently service visitors.”
He continued “The travel fair provides an excellent opportunity for Brunei-based travelers to shop for both overseas and local packages making it an event on the travel calendar not to be missed.”
Something to look forward to for Baiduri Bank customers

The Jerudong Park Medical Centre is offering an attractive promotion for professional teeth whitening treatment valued at BND799 (Usual price is BND1000) with free initial consultation. This promotion will run from 15 September to 15 November 2014 and can be redeemed till 30 December 2014.
This was announced at a press conference by Ak Danny Pg Tajuddin, the Marketing Officer, and Dr Ravi Pai, Consultant Endodontist and Head of Dental Department of JPMC. Also present was Dr Dharma Rai, Consultant Prosthodontist at JPMC.
“Oral health makes a huge presence in our lives especially in our simple daily activities. With our promotion, it can help to enhance the whiteness of your teeth in just a single visit to our Dental Clinic”, mentioned Ak Danny Pg Tajuddin, the Marketing Officer of JPMC.
“Professional In-office Teeth Whitening Procedure is the quickest way to whiten teeth under carefully monitored conditions which allow for the safe, controlled use of whitening gel – yielding results that are visible immediately”, stated Dr Ravi Pai, Consultant Endodontist and Head of Dental Department of JPMC.
Teeth discoloration is caused by natural darkening and yellowing as people age, drinking tea, coffee or fizzy drinks, natural and artificial food colorings, smoking and tobacco stains.

An appointment is required for the treatment, where patients are advised to come 15 minutes earlier prior to the appointment time. Before deciding whether teeth whitening is suitable for the patient, the dentist will first conduct a comprehensive examination of their teeth and gums to ensure proper teeth healthcare which is free during the promotion period.
They will also consult on their oral hygiene and lifestyle habits to determine if they will benefit from the treatment. Patients with extensive dental work, expectant mothers and children below 16 years old are not recommended to go through the procedure.
The procedure takes up approximately 2 hours. Patient’s gums and mouth are first protected with isolation materials. The dentist will carefully apply the whitening gel to their teeth and uses a patented blue light to oxidize the gel during the procedure.
The procedure is normally painless; however a very small percentage of patients may experience a minor sensitivity during or after the procedure. A sensitivity relief gel will be used to tackle the sensitivity.

Sundown 21km completed last Saturday
Sundown galore. This is my second attempt in 21km and I have to admit I wasn’t really prepared for the race. Firstly, my training sessions have been woeful to say that least. I hardly train and I only had like 3-5 sessions since February on my run. Bad, right? By the way, I was just 20 mins away from the cut-off time to earn my 21km finisher medal. Phew!!!
Perhaps I was focusing more on tennis and swimming lately in the final month before Sundown which exactly doesn’t do much for my 21km but maybe more into swimming since it improves my fitness slightly.
My timing wasn’t that great either and I had the same mentality as last year which is to complete the 21km. The first 4 kilometer was great because I was on my actual pace 7.15km/hr until I hit the 5km mark and things started to slow down. My pacer Alice was already far ahead of me after the 3km mark. She finished an hour earlier from me and she’s a great runner but she hardly trained.
Between 8km to 17km, I was power walking because of the cramps that I had to endure and the worst was yet to come when I had blisters on my left foot which made running difficult. The final 3km of the route, I managed to jog and increase my pace. I believe it was the hot, cooling cream that I applied after the 17km mark and it helped the cramps to slowly subside.
My friends finished earlier than me too. Well done to Zuraidah for finishing her first ever 21km and she said that it will be first and final registered 21km race *lol* I’m proud of my sister Muji for completing her first ever full marathon 42km. I know this is one of my bucket list but if this is to happen for me, I will have to seriously train myself seriously.
The Sundown Marathon Singapore was another great experience. However, the overall feel and minor things (of logistics) of the event was slightly a let down. I wasn’t happy with the drinking station for a start and some of the routes are dangerous for running as I saw a lady trip due to the uneven path and good luck she didn’t bleed on her face as it scratched on the cement path.
Thank you Sundown Singapore for another experience. Next year again? Probably yes..
Alice, myself, Muji, Zahrin and Badee at the Sundown last Saturday. Only Alice and I ran the half marathon while the rest ran 42km. Well done 😀

I can’t believe I signed up for this again 😀

Taping before the race but I still have cramps halfway through 🙁
Alice was my pacer but I lost her at 4km mark *huhu*

The 15km mark..
Rubbish everywhere especially after the hydration check points
At the 20km mark, I pretended to hail for a cab *lol*
My priceless moment when both my friends Jessie and Joanne showed up to cheer for me at the finishing line. Thank you so much, ladies. It means a lot to know you were there 😀

Stevie G attempted to grab the ball from the touchline but he was being shrugged off by Jose
What a great tactician Mourinho is! Liverpool was coming off a great run of victories and they never expect to be in the hunt for the title but their great run has put them back in title contention especially after their close victory over Manchester City a few weeks ago. However, Liverpool failed to beat Chelsea at Anfield where it mattered the most. Chelsea fielded a weaker team due to injuries and saving them for another important match in the second semi-final of the Champs League against Atlético Madrid in mid-week.
This was also the first time that Liverpool failed to scored in the first half in 25 games. So you can tell that Jose Mourinho know how to grind results at any expense and they played a much compact strategy especially at the back, forcing the midfielders and forwards to play deep, allowing less room for the likes of Sterling and Suarez to cause problems.
Two goals from Chelsea benefited from a clumsy errors, both coming in injury time of each halves. I truly salute Jose Mourinho in his tactics last night and if anyone can stop Liverpool form scoring, then it is Chelsea.
The result have open the Premier League wide open with Manchester City now favourites to win the title due to goal difference should both Liverpool and Man City win all their remaining games. Chelsea still have an outside chance to win the title if both Liverpool and City slip in their remaining games. Looks like the title will be down to the wire.
Will Stevie G’s error proved costly in the title race? We shall find out in two weeks’ time.
Demba Ba benefited from Stevie G’s error and scored late in the first half.
