Powerful proportions with short overhangs and off-road-oriented design as well as optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a special off-road light which helps detect obstacles immediately in front of the vehicle at low speeds – the new Mercedes-Benz GLB is a versatile SUV. And a spacious family car: on request it is the first Mercedes-Benz in this segment available as a seven-seater. The two seats in row three can be used by people up to 1.68 metres in height.
At 2829 millimetres the GLB has ten centimetres more wheelbase than, for example, the new B-Class. Together with the function-oriented greenhouse this is decisive when it comes to the generous amount of space. The headroom in the first seat row is 1035 millimetres – a best in this segment.
Ready for boarding: up to seven seats
The GLB is the first compact vehicle from Mercedes-Benz to offer a third seat row with two additional individual seats. The seats offer people up to a height of 1.68 metres a comfortable amount of space. The extensive safety equipment includes retractable head restraints, seat belts with belt tensioners, a side window airbag which also protects the passengers in the third seat row plus ISOFIX and TOP-Tether anchorages for suitable child seats. These can be used to attach up to four child seats in the rear.
Comfort details in the third row include two drinks holders between the seats as well as two stowage compartments with a rubberised insert on the left and right in the load compartment trim, each with a USB port. The seats can be lowered so that they are flush with the load compartment floor in order to extend the load compartment.
With aluminium details: the interior design
The instrument panel consists of a single piece, which has optical cut-outs in the driver and front passenger area. The driver faces a widescreen cockpit, with control and display via MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience). A new feature is the characteristic off-road tubular element in an aluminium look which rounds off the lower section of the instrument panel and houses the three round centre air vents. These give the dashboard support an impression of robustness, power and a certain fun factor. Below the nozzles is the air conditioning control panel, whose buttons create the impression that they have been milled from a solid aluminium cylinder.
The robust character of the interior continues in the centre console. Tubular elements in a machined look lend solidity to the design of the components and controls. Along the doors, the SUV character is underlined by the horizontal grab handle that, from the design and equipment line Progressive upwards, forms a robust part of the door panel structure and resembles a machined aluminium tube.
Powerful and efficient: the engines
The new GLB 200 places its trust in the four-cylinder petrol which were completely updated to relaunch the compact model series. In comparison to the previous generation, they are characterised by significantly increased power, improved efficiency and emissions.
The gateway to the petrol-model range is the M 282 with a displacement of 1.33 litres in the GLB 200 (combined fuel consumption 6.2-6.0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 142-137 g/km). This engine has cylinder shutoff for efficient operation in the partial-load range.
Mercedes-Benz regained its crown in the best performing Small Family Car category. The CLA is the sporty alternative to the A-Class Sedan, the winner of last year’s Best in Class. It achieved a score of more than 90 percent in three of the four areas of safety and delivered the best overall rating of 89.8% being the highest awarded to any car. Remarkably, Mercedes-Benz launched five more five-star vehicles in 2019, all with outstanding crash protection and driver assistance technology.
A weekend of excitement awaits.

Stuttgart/Bergisch Gladbach. According to a study by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM), Mercedes-Benz is the leading premium brand for innovations in the period from 2016 to 2019. CAM analysed the automotive innovations of 31 premium brands: Mercedes-Benz proved to be the most innovative, with around 180 new features in series production. These innovations included assistance systems such as the anti-theft warning system, the intuitive and intelligent multimedia system MBUX and ENERGIZING comfort control.
The “Anti-theft alarm system (ATA)” is available as optional equipment for many Mercedes-Benz model series. The latest generation of ATA in combination with the Mercedes me connect service Theft and parking damage notification is able to send an automatic message if the vehicle suffers a parking impact caused by a third party, or is towed away. The ATA sensors are able to detect such situations, and report them to the vehicle. The vehicle then sends a push notification to the Mercedes me App.
Mercedes-Benz first presented the multimedia system MBUX at the 2018 CES show. The name of this infotainment system signals that the user experience (UX) has first priority. A unique feature of this system is its ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence. MBUX is customisable and adapts to the user. It thus creates an emotional link between vehicle, driver and passengers. Updates “over the air” are also possible. Its further strengths include the high-resolution Widescreen Cockpit with touchscreen operation, navigation display with augmented reality technology plus intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition, which is activated with the code word “Hey Mercedes”.
ENERGIZING comfort control networks various comfort systems in the vehicle, and uses musical and lighting moods plus a number of massage modes for a wide range of feel-good programmes. The ENERGIZING COACH is part of the comfort control system. This function based on an intelligent algorithm recommends one of the programmes depending on the situation and the individual concerned. If a Garmin® wearable is worn, personal details such as stress level or quality of sleep optimise the accuracy of the recommendation. The aim is for passengers to feel well and relaxed even during demanding or monotonous journeys. In addition, the pulse rate supplied by the integrated Garmin wearable is shown on the media display.

The BIBD QuickPay and ProgresifPay cashless payment methods will provide convenience to customers who visit the self-service station. Customers can just pay via scanning of the QR code using their BIBD QuickPay or ProgresifPay mobile app inside the Roxana Kedai at the cashier. These cashless payment methods can be used for both fuel and non-fuel purchases.
This is in line with BSM’s efforts towards digitisation and commitment to provide the best service to customers by giving them convenience and safe fuelling at the stations. The newly added service will create an enhanced next generation customer experience by enabling them to pay with their mobile phones at the counter.
BSM Head of IT, Hajah Natrah Hj Ahmad said: “Roxana Station is our pilot project with the objective of providing an alternative cashless payment option to the Roxana station customers. RCanada and U.S. generated strong demands for the new Audi Q3 which will be available for sale in Brunei soon
“Our model initiative is gaining traction globally at the year-end,” says Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. “North America has been reaping the benefits of the full availability of the new Audi Q3 for the past few months; the two electric models, the Audi e-tron and Audi Q2 L e-tron*, as well as the Audi Q8 bolstered our portfolio in November in China. Despite the increasingly difficult environment, we therefore still expect our deliveries to customers to perform robustly and to see slight growth for 2019 as a whole.”
Deliveries in Europe increased to around 707,650 cars since January, a year-on-year increase of 2.2 percent. The sharp increase of 33.0 percent to around 58,300 units in November is once again also down to prior-year effects associated with the WLTP switchover and model changeovers. In Germany, Audi handed over 19,526 cars to customers in November, an increase of 24.3 percent. Deliveries rose 4.1 percent to 253,443 cars since January. The Audi Q3 (23,303 cars, +67.7%), the Audi A6 (41,899, +18.4%) and the Audi Q8 (5,751 cars, +131.2%) contributed positively to growth in the domestic market.
The North America region saw deliveries increase in November to a new record-breaking figure of 25,230 cars (+17.3%), with around 241,100 vehicles delivered to customers (-3.3%) since the start of the year. In the United States, deliveries increased by 20.7 percent to 20,618 cars in November. Audi delivered 198,261 cars in the United States since January, almost on a par with the prior-year figure (-1.1%). Deliveries in Canada were once again up in November (3,416 cars, +4.4%), with the company delivering 31,829 cars (-10.0%) since the start of the year. Both countries generated strong demand in November for the new Audi Q3, which went on sale in July, (USA: 2,497 cars, +256.7%; Canada: 929 cars; +231.8%) along with the new Audi Q8, which remains market leader in its segment.
In China, 67,402 cars delivered (+16.8%) in November set a new record-breaking figure. Cumulative deliveries were up 3.5 percent to 618,596 units. Growth was driven in part by the high demand for the A6 L (16,559 cars; +9.3%). The Audi Q2 L was also introduced in China as an all-electric model in November. Apart from the locally produced Audi Q2 L e-tron, the Audi e-tron also went on sale in China in the middle of last month.
